Is that a brief charcoal under drawing? Beautifully spontaneous seeming as always. Also in this one the face is lovely and the knee gives a nice focal point as the eye moves down.

I think what you see Elaine is from a broad tipped graphite stick that I first lightly used to sketch the figure shape (the mottling effect is from use of CP paper). The sharper lines were from a sharper graphite stick pressed harder. Thank you again and again for you close observation, comments, questions and tips. I love them. Barrie

Thanks. Great observation about the shape. I liked this pose - unusual as it required him to keep weight on his left leg. Maybe that is why he could only hold the pose for 20-minutes. Barrie
