Ten years ago… yesterdayis where it all began:
I never thought I’d see the day
I’d actually get a candy-gram.
Ten years ago today
my life would change forever.
I was bored, there was no school,
but the evening would be better.
Ten years ago today
my parents were in shock.
A boy? With Brie? No way…
But they still met you on your block.
Ten years ago today
you learned of our HUGE truck.
Yet you jumped right in to be with me,
I could not believe my luck!
Ten years ago today
you walked me through the town,
we watched a silly movie,
and did anything but frown.
Ten years ago today
it was cold and getting late.
You wrapped me in a jacket hug
since our ride had made us wait.
Ten years ago today
going to bed felt so surreal.
I didn’t know what to think,
I didn’t know how to feel.
Ten years ago today
you surprised me one last time:
“Will you be my Valentine… for keepsies?”
is just the cutest line!
Ten years ago today
I fell asleep so glad
that my first date had gone so well!
Best first boyfriend I’ve ever had!
Ten years ago today
and then add three days more,
We reunited happily;
Valentines forevermore.
