Description
The ride back home was very uneventful as I watched the outside world from the window. I could feel the eyes of Nathan move on me and then off of me. I am guessing he is remorseful for what he did but he did have a point. I failed Carla. I had told the poor girl that we will give her a night of experience that she would be able to tell her friends. I promised Carla that she would be safe. It turned out that Lilith had different plans. Killing the woman as just a message that she has no intention of following the rules, the laws I have set for the city of Bridgeport’s vampires.
Those rules that I never budge on is that humans are not to be killed by our hand, humans are to be taken care of after we fed upon them just to make sure they are well enough to walk away eventually, human law is like that of our own so what the humans have set up, we follow as it is their world.
Even with these rules I set up, I broke one of them right away when I drained Morgan dry. I have been meaning to try and set up her family with a gift as well as a way to say I am sorry for taking her life. I was in such a rush to leave Sapphire City that I didn’t bother to pack enough blood packet so I wouldn’t be that hungry. It is something I try to avoid as my survival always is about taking what I need when it comes to hunger and leaving no or very minimal body counts for hunters to come after me during the daylight hours. But that doesn’t mean that I don’t indulge myself in the most delicious way to have blood.
It would be just after 2 am when we returned to my mansion that overlooks the city and I left the limo before the chauffeur could even open the door for me. I just wanted to be alone to think. I already knew I had to call up the mayor, Laura Michaels and get things set up to cover myself and Nathan. I also need more information on Lilith. I need to know my enemy as best I can she made herself out to be an enemy right away.
I didn’t bother changing as I walked right away to my office, not caring what Nathan is doing. He might have said something but I wasn’t paying any attention. I walk right away for the cell phone that was charging on my desk as I had to call the mayor first and foremost as this could be political problems for her, me, humans, and vampires. I picked up the phone and pulled up the phone book for Mayor Michaels. I pressed the touch screen button to call out to her.
