Description The first assignment for my abstract painting class was to make nine small paintings, experimenting with different media, brushes, textures and whatnot. This one turned out to be my favorite, so I thought I'd share it here.

Oil on a 9x12 piece of canvas board.

Also, the texture in the darkest parts came from mixing coffee grounds in with the paint before applying it with my palette knife. Fun stuff.

Yeah, someone else mentioned that. I didn't even consider trees as I was painting it, but I guess it fits.
