Wow, fantastic! This is some really beautiful brushwork!
With even the simplest, subtlest of backgrounds this would be a masterpiece.
(laying out the entire scene also would allow the placement of a definitive light source [or a couple], and would really help reduce ambiguity when shading and highlighting)
