Men in armour on horses. What fun!

I really love that. I'm quite an Arthurian geek and Gawain is my favourite knight, along with Gareth and Bedivere. That's perfect, really. It's he ^_^

I noticed that you used the actual recorded shield for Sir Gawain-you don't see that often!

I really like this, the color looks good and the pose, particularly, is strong-it's hard to draw people on horseback, even harder to put them in armor-but I think you've done both really well here. *faves

Thank you. I'm planning to use all of the recorded shields for all of the knights in the series. Its so awesome that you noticed that, it makes all the research worth it when someone picks up on the details. thanks.

No problem. I definitely know the feeling-I'm working on a Gawain novel right now and I can't count the times I'd put something in and it would take a flying leap over peoples' heads...

I noticed on your Gawain drawing you used the pentacle on his sheild. For your novel are you combining the Gawain of the earlier legends (The Green KNight, etc.) with the Gawain of Mallory? They differ alot in personality, but they're really not incompatible.

I'm actually combining the Gawain of several different traditions-SGGK is a major part of the second book (looking like it's going to be a looong series) But I'm pulling from the British and German traditions as well as Mallory-

If you ever get a chance, the Prose Merlin and the Alliterative Morte d' Arthur (both long works in Middle English) are fantastic. Gawain's death in the Alliterative Morte had me in tears.

You're definitely right-but I've found that combining the character traits really brings the characters into 3D.
