Sadly my last character posted Stick Figure didn't get much love compared to my other character uploads so hopefully this one will be more appealing. This is Abyss a member of the Deep Ones from the Cthulhu Mythos. Abyss is a servant of Dagon and plots the eventual subjugation of humanity as most servitors of the Old Ones do. Originally this character was going to be male, and then I found out something interesting, with angler fish (which is what I based Abyss on) the females are the large and scary while the males are tiny parasites that fuse to the females for life. Is'nt zoology fascinating? She's going to be one nasty villainess in the ole Infiniverse.Related content

I've always wanted to add a bit of horror to my stories, this is the kind of character I can only dream about.
She's terrifying and her design can never be accused too sexy, lol.

Not to brag but I do horror quite well being as big a fan of it as I am superheroes. I am going to feminize her shape ever so slightly as I found out that angler fish are female after I had already penciled and inked her. Basically Im going to widen the hips a bit more than the shoulders. Given that she's got no human DNA at all ImΒ not putting breasts on her. My shark character Carcharodon is also female (something I also decided after the art was done) after learning that female great white sharks were larger than males. So ImΒ kinda glad her form came out sleeker with a blunted snout.Β
I plan on doing my male shark man Megalodon with a longer and more pointed snout. As for introducing a horror element I'll offer this for you. Feel free to use Abyss if you like in your works. Or I can come up with an original concept if you like that is scary and alien (an alien would fit your setting quite well). I actually have another character in the works that could be modified so that it would be individual enough so as it wouldnt be the same character at all and there would be no worries about sharing or I can just give you a random horror based character that Ive no bg plans for.Β

It will be my pleasure. I love the idea of seeing something I came up with appearing in one of your comics. In my world Deep Ones are indeed quite evil, you know being worshipers of Dagon and such but you know maybe I could do a good Deep One. I have a character who might fit the bill I was gonna call Sharkskin.

It is fine and many people interprets them that way, but when you break it down they seem pretty fine to me: In the source material they are said to be perfectly capable of overthrowing humanity by force, yet they do not make such attempts; In fact their only acts of violence, as cruel and merciless as they might be are done in defense of their breeding grounds, and honestly what creature doesn't get hostile when their young are threatened. Otherwise, they remain strictly neutral and only engage in contact with humanity when the latter attempts to make deals with them of their own free will, in which case, they do not scam the humans but actually provide their end of the deal. Rather honest and reasonable guys. And while it might not be relevant in your setting it is certainly a subject worth to contemplate, I think.

I feel a lot of stories don't often focus on the Deep Ones whenever they're involving underwater-based eldritch abominations. So Abyss certainly is an interesting character to see! I like that she is related to Dagon directly and is more significant as a result, while still a representation of sorts for the Deep Ones.

Thanks, it came to me (again as I was writing this up) to give her origin that extra little boost. Stories and characters will often dictate themselves to me and my ideas just kinda go away. These things tend to live like that.

Yeah its a great boon that Lovecraft's works are in the public domain, which I think he would have liked given how freely he letΒ other people play in his sandbox while he was alive. So you can expect more Mythos references and characters to appear in my world. And staying far away from Abyss is a great idea.
