Description
The Vanished Sea – 5 million years hence
The rocky grikes are a convenient hiding place for lurking predators, from the mighty Gryken to the diminutive Cling-nipper. Cling-nippers are about 6 centimetres long, and sit pressed up against the sides of the grikes, having a texture and a flat shape that make them blend into the rock they are sitting on. They prey on many kinds of insects that venture there to hide from the heat. A similar but much paler species lives out on the salt flats, clinging between cracks in the salt and feeding on brine flies.
