Description The image above was acquired via Star Wars Empire at War with the Mass Effect at War mod installed.

This information is from circa the Reaper War (2186). The information also assumes Shepard is a Spacer/War Hero background and took mostly Paragon routes during ME1 & ME2 such as saving the Citadel Council and destroying the Collector Base (Basically my play through of the trilogy).

Sir

Here we have it. The crowning jewels of the Alliance Fleet. Their Kilimanjaro Dreadnoughts. The Alliance has been abiding by the Treaty Farixen so their effective military strength is noticeably lower than our own but as past experiences have taught, underestimating them at our own peril. Good thing we're on the same side then.

I've heard mixed reports that Commander Shepard has command of one of these Dreadnoughts. I heard Councilor Sparatus mentioning this specifically. I asked Admiral Anderson about this through our regular channels for clarity. It's not Spectre Shepard but Commander Hannah Shepard, Spectre Shepard's mother. I'd argue nepotism but given Spectre Shepard's performance and the results the Commander's gotten, it makes any claims of nepotism quite weak. Thought that maybe its the reverse but Anderson allowed me a glimpse into Hannah Shepard's service record, all the non-redacted stuff, and it seems the Shepard lineage has a history of distinguished service. Quite commendable in my opinion.

Systems Alliance Kilimanjaro Class Dreadnought
Class:
Kilimanjaro Class Dreadnought

Defenses: Kinetic Barriers, Heavy Ship Armor, Silaris Heavy Ship Armor (Uncommon Refit)
Compliments: 10~20 UT-47A Kodiak Drop Shuttles
Crew: 1,000~2,000

Background:
Whenever the Systems Alliance gets serious about defending their space, the presence of even a single Kilimanjaro Dreadnought is enough to intimidate many a would-be foe. First seeing combat against Batarian Forces in 2182, the Kilimanjaro Dreadnought helped to bring a swift end to Batarian Encroachment on Alliance territories. Although bound by the Treaty of Farixen, the Alliance still had a formidable number of Dreadnoughts in service by the time of the Battle of the Citadel which saw the Alliance elevated to Council Member status, allowing them to effectively triple their Dreadnought count. Perhaps the most notable Alliance Dreadnought of this class is the first of the class, the SSV Kilimanjaro, whose XO is Commander Hannah Shepard, the mother of humanity's first Council Spectre. The Kilimanjaro was assigned to the Citadel Fleet on a temporary basis following the Battle of the Citadel until the Turian Dreadnought, Sword of Palaven, could arrive from duty at the Turian boarder.

The Kilimanjaro Class is named after Mount Kilimanjaro in the African Continent of Earth, and all Alliance Dreadnoughts are named after Earth's many mountains.

Notes: Yes, I recall hearing about the Sword's having to be absent. I understand the Sword was assisting in mopping up the Geth holdouts at the time. - C. Vakarian

Technical Information:
Kilimanjaro Class Dreadnoughts are the most powerful weapons in the Alliance Fleet, as dreadnoughts often are for most space-faring races. The average Kilimanjaro's primary weapon is a single Dreadnought-Mass Accelerator Cannon, or D-MAC, built through the middle of the central hull. More recently, the Kilimanjaros have been retrofit with three Thanix Cannons, one mounted on the ends of the three forward ends of the dreadnought, further enhancing the dreadnought's lethality. These cannons are not designed for simultaneous firing but instead fire on a rotational basis due to the power requirements needed to fire them. In addition to the D-MAC and the Thanix Cannons, the Dreadnought is armed with forty Disruptor Torpedo Launchers and twenty MAC Turrets. They're also armed with GARDIAN Lasers for anti-fighter defense.

In combat, Dreadnoughts are designed to bring up the rear of an advancing force, pounding the enemy head-on with their forward weapons to inflict incredible damage. They don't carry any fighter craft save for around a dozen or more UT-47A Kodiak Shuttles, but these are typically reserved for ship-to-ship or ship-to-surface transport for officers and crew. Dreadnoughts are seldom used for any sort of carrier duties, although in theory, a Dreadnought could ferry roughly twenty-two fighters into a combat zone albeit at the cost of losing their shuttles. Alliance Dreadnoughts cannot perform a planetary landing but their mass effect field generator is strong enough for them to reach a very low orbit.

Notes: "Very low orbit" is an understatement. I've seen these dreadnoughts as low as roughly one-and-a-half kilometres off the ground! They could easily land on a planet's surface in theory. I did ask Anderson about this and he admitted that the only reason they can't do a landing is because they're not equipped with landing gear of any kind. I imagine that in an emergency, they can do a crash landing onto the surface and minimize crew casualties. - C. Vakarian
