HUGE EDIT!
I guess this is the final version

oh holy lord this one was hard...
I had great expectations for this piece and I really worked hard on it, but in the end I felt very disappointed with the finished thing, I kinda don't like it. I can't find anything wrong with it and it may be one of my best works in technical aspects but I just don't really like it. The feedback wasn't like what I was expecting and that made me despise the piece even more. It took me almost 3 days straight working, blending, reworking, changing stocks, blending, drawing, changing stocks again and repeating the process a hundred times and in the end, it feels just "ok" to me. That's just awful...

it's about a future where humans, aliens and androids coexist in a strict social pyramid and most forms of "unhealthy" entertainment were banned. Strict morals are enforced in violent ways by the forces of the central government. People are controled in every way possible, even inside their minds. There's the regular police that keeps tabs on people's actions and the "Brain Police", as it is called, which is responsible for checking people's thoughts, memories and wishes, and may intervere when someone commits a moral misconduct in their head.

From synapse and memory modifiers (humans and aliens) to hacks (androids), the underworld always tried to find ways to avoid the prohibition and deceive both police forces. The alley represented is one of the few underground spots where people can find every kind of "unhealthy" entertainment, from sex to gambling, drinking, partying and all the other good stuff deemed illegal.

As Orwellian as it can be xP

it was inspired by Blade Runner, Fifth Element, 1984 (of course), Equilibrium, Matrix, Bioshock (yea Bioshock again), Mass Effect and even Killzone

Ugh! I read all but the last line, so it is influenced by BioShock, then I don't really see anything wrong with this at all. It's beautiful work.

this is a really nice piece, and it's sad that you don't like it. Of course I love anything cyberpunk so maybe I'm baised. I do have one thought, this piece strikes me as very BioShock-y. It look like Rapture was transported to a cyberpunk city, and that's not a bad thing it may seem contrived to some people.

I like this quite a bit, although it doesn't have the same flair that your graveworld or Oboro do. Quite a different piece, and it reminds me quite a bit of the sleazier touches in the Spielburg movie "A.I.- Artificial Intelligence."

i'm getting blade runner meets my darkest Robert Heinlein fantasy. REALLY solid work here amigo. from the neon colors punching out from the desaturated browns, right down to the texture in the walls. well done!

Well, I looked at some of your other stuff, and I agree that this is not your best. I really like the more mellow pieces more than this because it feels like all the neon signs are just, all up in my face. I like that you actually have an idea behind this though. I like people who have ideas behind their pieces, because I never seem to have.

This is a very, very good work. However, I think every propaganda is too clear, and they take the attention away from the action. You could make use of the environment principle from Da Vinci.
Some blurriness, smoke.. even better: texture (like in the bottom background layer) could adapt the lights to a complementary stage.

I hope this is of use for you.
Have a nice day.

If you want to get disappointed with what you do, spend a long time with it! Always works for me to, I put in a lot of effort and just lose all enthusiasm for what I'm doing

I think it's a good piece, interesting to look at with all it's details, how the houses angle towards each other... and the Llama Cigars sign is a lovely wink to the dA crowd

Thanks for submitting this to our gallery & good work!!
