Expression is something that manifests, embodies, or symbolizes something else. As someone who enjoys painting portraits, it is an interesting exercise to try and express something intangible that goes beyond the individual’s features. I suppose in many ways I was thinking about this piece as I am in that stage of my personal growth where I am wondering about “Who is someone at their core?”. And what does it mean to be oneself?”.
