I feel like I've seen this exact pose and proportions in an NES sprite somewhere, but I just can't place it.
The visible pauldron seems too big and/or low such that if he stood up straight, his sword arm would reach too far down his body. I also have trouble figuring out which leg is the left or right, but that's more interesting than bothersome.
I really admire the grassy fringes on the shadow and the signs of decay on the sword.
