I really like Catullus. He truly has a special place in my heart, as I remember being a little Latin 1 student, and reading a short little snippet from Catullus about how his ex Lesbia was totally missing out, because he was a famous poet, and so great, etc. It was at that moment it clicked in my head that while we tend to distance ourselves from the past, and put it on this strange pedestal, people have always been people, and people can be bitchy. Catullus is just a funny, magnificent bastard, and I adore him. Thus I decided to combine him with two other things I adore, cats and bad puns (though this pun really only works written out).

At first, I was planning to go with a standard, fluffy kitty, but then as I was looking for reference photos, I decided to look up any statues or busts of Catullus, which I could base my picture on. Going back and forth looking at the bust I found (here's a picture www.google.com/search?q=catull… : ) and pictures of cats, it soon became clear to me that clearly Catullus was just a Sphinx cat on stilts, and with a very good makeup artist.
