Have you seen the rumors that Burton's next Disney live action adaptation will be Sleeping Beauty, except told from Maleficent's perspective a la Wicked?

Yes wai! Or so the rumor mill is turning. I'm very curious about the idea, how does one turn Maleficent into a sympathetic figure?

I've wondered about that too! Have you ever read the childrens princess books that are titled "My Side of the Story", and its the story in the princess' eyes on one side, and you flip it over and it has the villain's side of the story? I have the one about Sleeping Beauty and Maleficent, and it was some cutesy story about her actually trying to help Sleeping Beauty get a job in a textile mill, because having a strong work-ethic would get her farther than just her beauty and her singing, but everything Maleficent did was construed as evil. Like I think the whole spindle thing had something to do with work in the textile mill, and her pricking it was an accident (or something, lol) It's kind of a silly idea XD I would think anything in Maleficent's favor would be because of revenge...I don't see how else anyone could sympathize for her.

I've read the Snow White one. They're pretty funny.
I've also read a version of Snow White where the queen was the only one who knew that Snow was a demon and everything she did was to try to save her people but she fails in the end. It definitely wasn't the Disney version.

Have you read 'Fairest of All'? It a Disney re-telling of their version of Snow White. Yes, Disney, they published it. They even had a little nod to Aurora and Maleficent in a story that the Queen told a very young Snow White. I hope the author goes and writes the story of Maleficent next, Fairest of All was such a sweet story!!!

Lol, that's pretty bizzare! That's the closest I've heard to any versions where the villains were the good guys and the princesses were the bad guys XD

Ohhhh, that might totally make a fun project! I see a lot of people doing the good guys in bad guy outfits, taking it a step further would be interesting XD
