Master Chief wears Mark VII, a prototype MJOLNIR suit that looks almost identical to Mark VI. It upgrades itself after battle depending on the SPARTAN's performance, which is why A.) Mark VI and Master Chief look different in H4, and B.) It explains how his armor changed.

Wrong. Master Chief wears Mark VI it says so in all the halo games and if you look on halo waypoint when they are taking about Cortana, they mention that Chief's armor never changed.
