Description ...because I've wanted to do this little fellow for years now and just seemed to never be able to get around to him. It isn't like I didn't have other things I should have been working on... Does that mean I'm A.D.D.????? Most likely...my focus is croakus...

Even though I read it backwards, I quite enjoyed the story you told with the other pictures of Seamus!

Thank you! I've been told recently that I submit too many individual pics of my sculpts and that I need to either not do so or simply do one with multiple- and smaller- shots as a single collage pic. This, of course, would also necessitate that I either not do the text that accompanies them as I do, or shorten it altogether or do it as one very long text. Of course, I'm not really sure how many folks actually take the time to look at all my pics anyway, a let alone actually read all the text for each one. I'm glad that you actually took the time to read it all- I know it does take a lot of time, and I appreciate it.

I know I'm far more inclined to read the stuff if it's shorter little bits and pieces. I have issues focusing on reading long things on the computer. And though you do submit quite a few pictures of each piece... as long as you've got something running between the two and not just the same comment over and over again, it's all good in my book.

Boggleboy In reply to Faraleigh [2007-10-27 16:14:35 +0000 UTC]

What most folks fail to realize is simply this: it's a three-dimensional thing. NOT like the weird-ass heading that DA has for 3-D work- which isn't. All of my sculpts are meant to be seen from a variety of views and several other sculptors and doll makers like to see the various angles, whereas the collage effect doesn't provide a large enough view- I personally dislike it when others submit them that way and won't do it myself. And as far as the short attention span for long text on the computer, I think we all have issues with that, and I'm aware of that- I have issues with it myself. I guess my thing about people who have issues with my numerous submissions of my work- it's been called tedious to have to look at all of them, which is the most insulting and abrasive thing one could have said to me about my work- is this: if it's something you can't be bothered with, then don't. Either just go to my site and look at the gallery where the thumbnails can be viewed regardless of the individual being subscribed or not and decide which ones to view. Photos of sculpture is not the same as a 2-D image.

Faraleigh In reply to Boggleboy [2007-10-27 16:53:41 +0000 UTC]

I completely agree with this. If people don't want to bother with all the pictures... they don't need to look. If they don't care, just look at one shot and move on with life. It's not like you're twisting their arm to look at all of 'em. I could keep going, but all I'd be doing is reiterating your points. And you know the arguments. Just tell those people complaining they can shove it.

There is just so much personality in your work. I find it difficult to believe that this is crafted, and not a photo taken of an actual faerie. I would love to draw this guy's portrait.

QuestingRaven In reply to Boggleboy [2007-09-28 20:27:42 +0000 UTC]

Hrmmmm ... maybe I should try that myself.

I've been thinking about building a 1/4 model of Misha from Sculpty ... any suggestions on how to start?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Boggleboy In reply to QuestingRaven [2007-09-28 21:02:23 +0000 UTC]

Whew, that would be a challenging sculpt! You would have to do that one in stages- do the armature so that it has one for the wings maybe, then sculpt the body, fire it a little, then the wings....then sculpt the armor over it all...I dunno! I'd have to think on that one more.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

QuestingRaven In reply to Boggleboy [2007-10-01 15:40:49 +0000 UTC]

It's just something that I've been toying with ... and I've never sculpted anything before, so it could be challenging

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Boggleboy In reply to QuestingRaven [2007-10-01 17:00:52 +0000 UTC]

It would be a challenging sculpt for even an experienced sculptor- not impossible though.

I need not say much...but holy cow IΒ΄m so impressed! The hat, the wrinkles, the expression, the pipe, the hands, the clothes and the bread! You captured the right feeling for the Leprechaun, exactly as I imagine one, stunning, IΒ΄ll be drooling for some time now, if youΒ΄ll excuse me...

You know what! Since youΒ΄re my god in sculpting, how would you like to be somewhat of a mentor for me if any problems occur during my project-time? Someone whom I could throw my balls of thought to, like we say in Sweden. Huh?
My project is about making atleast 10 sculpey models and then painting them.

Thank you Emil...and I would be honored. You made my day mate. Anything I could do to help a talent like yours- but I can't imagine you'll need too much! Feel free to send me a note here, or to e-mail me at info@kevinbuntin.com Too bad we don't live closer- the life a sculptor is a rather solitary one, and being able to sort of work with another artist is nice and rare. You truly honor me. I am touched.

His face reminds me of one of these shrunken head kits I had as a kid. You would carve a face out of an apple and dry it using a lightbulb. You'd end up with something resembling ol' Seamus there.
