Black tomcat lives in our house. He goes out alone. Then he waits for someone who goes inside. He asks us to drive him with the elevator and rang the door on the second floor, where he lives.

Haha, I know what you mean! I have arrived slap bang in the middle of the cold New Zealand winter after soaking up the African sun for 2 months. But I guess I shouldn't complain, at least I have 2 months less winter this year

Wow, how hot was it during the heatwave? We don't quite have the temperature extremes here in NZ that you have in Canada, the winters are relatively mild where I live (today it was 14 degrees C), but the icy wind blowing up from Southern Ocean can be very unpleasant. Also, our houses are badly insulated and not built for the cold like over there and electricity is expensive so we just have to grin and bear it so to speak Β

Luckily we didn't get it as extreme as it was in NY, where even at night the temperatures didn't go below 30 degC ... but what made it really unpleasant was the high humidity. The kind of weather that's not made for aesthetes 
Canadian homes (at least many in Montreal) are very badly insulated as well, but electricity is rather cheap, so we kind of heat the streets in winter, when -20 is nothing unusual ... It doesn't make sense to me, but who am I to complain as an immigrant 
I hope you feel at home again after your long trip! And find some leisure time to go through your photos ... hint, hint ... (Sorry for the late reply, I sometimes completely loose track here

High humidity can be very unpleasant indeed like I experienced when I was in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania which is in the tropics and on the Indian Ocean... thank god we had air conditioning! So you use to live in NY? After leaving Germany I imagine as it says on your profile that you are formerly from there? I'm an immigrant as well here in NZ, I was born and grew up in South Africa but I have spent more time here now so pretty much a kiwi I guess even though I still have an accent. Yes, I need to start uploading a few images from Africa onto dA one of these days although I didn't have chance to do much abstract stuff and I also shot mostly video material so I'm sitting on a tonne of footage that I don't know how to edit lol! Never shot any video before so this was a great experience and I'm learning how to use editing software at the moment so will hopefully be able to produce something watchable soon
