This is probably my favorite out of all your pictures of them. There's so many lovely details, and they all come together so perfectly. The nuances of body language and expressions, the scrapes, bruises and scuffed /torn gloves, the way you framed the whole image, everything. I'm just in love with this piece. 
Sonic had the shadow of a frown over his closed eyes. There was a subtle determination over his entire face, as though he was still fighting somewhere in there. But the rest of his body was as lifeless as before. Shadow only knew he was breathing because he could feel his chest heaving weakly under his fingers.
There was a dull throbbing pain in his side from the biggest gash, but he could stand, even if he was unsteady. They had finally stopped forcing him back to his own bed, so he remained there, eyes on Sonic, looking for any detail that hinted a change; any change. Deep down he was waiting to see him stand up, shake this off and run ahead. He had even found himself telling them that nothing could slow Sonic down for long.
It had been long, now. Shadow fiercely warded the thought off, but he could guess their reason for letting him stay by Sonic’s side.
He had demanded, taunted and accused. He had thrown all pretense aside and been honest. Sonic showed no sign of hearing him. The darkness was one step away, closing in on them from all sides. All the words he’d ever used to convince himself he was above all weaknesses were gone. He was pleading, without anyone to plead to.
Please tell me I didn’t fail him, too. He trusted me. He thought he could depend on me. Like she thought she could depend on me. Please tell me he didn’t have to pay for it like she did. Please.
His world tilted, he cringed, and the tears fell. He kept his touch on Sonic’s chest light while his other hand clenched in a powerless fist on the sheets.
Please... Just let him live.

I absolutely LOVE the shading and how shadow's expression was drawn. this is a perfect example of what kind of sonadow pictures i like. Shadow, showing how much he loved sonic, and never wanting to lose him

I wanted to show that Shadow can lower his 'barriers' for someone special, in times where it's emotionally crushing and unbearable (and in other instances). The clenched fist reflects his frustration with himself, he knows that 98% of the time Sonic can look after himself, but still feels guilty (and desperate) that Sonic's in this condition. Expanding from Wake-Up Call, yet another battle with Eggman, oh the cliche haha
Guess you could say that Shadow's history of losing loved one's takes it's toll, especially when I comes to this sort of love different from his love for Maria and Gerald.
Drawing the most accurate expression on Shadow is something I must i'm proud to have accomplished thanks to yours as well as the comments of others. Makes me happy that I can understand Shadow's character :3
