I quite like the setup 
I do think if you had chosen a different angle you would've seen better how deep that thing actually is based on the sketch. It looks a bit too flat now, like it's pretty much a robot like human, while it's more of a lizard thing, right?
Besides that, it's still very nice

It's not bad it's just look a litttle weird.

I only spent around half an hour making the rig- mainly just to show him in a funny pose and maybe get some simple animations on him
The real rig will happen when the design is finalized. (this version my be too high poly anyway)

Yep, messes do happen. They're much more fun to make sometimes... Not good in the long run though
