Before Skylanders Trap Team was in development, Toys for Bob had plans to add in a Tyrannosaurus rex in Skylanders Giants. The orignal names for the T-rex was T-rex Giant or Tech Rex. He was originally going to be part of the Giants but there were problems balancing him as a toy. As a result, they went for the Dark Arkeyan (blackrhinoranger.deviantart.co… ) but also scrapped that guy and replaced him with Bouncer (they probably also used the T-rex Rex giant thing for the name of the Life elemental giant, Tree Rex)

When Trap team was in development, The T-rex character was going back on track except he's more like a baby T-rex than a grown up. But they decided to knock off the idea for having a cannon stuck to his back. They then tried going for more ideas for what his weapons should be like and as a result, they ended up with him having a helicopter suit and missiles. That's when Chopper was born.

Something like this has happened for Chop Chop's Father before they decided to go for Krypt King.
