Yes, it's true. Robin Williams, the voice of the Genie from Disney's Aladdin passed away recently. I knew him a bit when I was a kid.Besides the Genie, I also knew him as Batty Koda from Ferngully the last rainforest, Fender from Robots, Lovelace and Ramon in Happy Feet, Mrs Doubtfire, Peter Pan in Hook, Live Action Popeye, Alan from Jumanji and Theodore Roosevelt from Night at the Museum.
At least we still have Dan Castellaneta (who is Homer Simpson in the Simpsons) who did the Genie in Return of Jafar, the Aladdin TV series, The House of Mouse, Kingdom Hearts and even in a Simpsons episode, Mypods and Broomsticks. He may not top Robin Williams' performance but I think he is a better replacement voice of the genie than Jim Meskimen.
On the bright side, his soul is free just like the Genie after Aladdin's third wish.

Will Smith will do great as the Genie in the 2019 Aladdin remake just like Donald Glover is for Simba in the Lion King remake coming out the same year.

I could try Barrie Ingham who did the voice of Basil of Baker Street and Bartholomew (the drunk mouse who called Ratigan a rat) from 'The Great Mouse Detective', but it might take practice to draw him.

This is really depressing, Aladdin was one of my childhood memories and I loved the genie so much. I'm really sad he passed away but it's so coincidental that I had an Aladdin production this year only 2 weeks ago. That's creepy...
