Ari's father died when she was very young, leaving her mother to care for an infant all on her own. She would frequently tell Ari stories about her deceased husband so that her daughter wouldn't feel as though she didn't have a father. When she was a child, the other kids would be confused as to how Ari could love someone who's name she'd only ever known through someone else's words, or who's face she can't remember. Ari herself didn't even know, just that the "memories" made her cry, just as her mother did while telling those stories...
