What kind of tutorial was it? Are you using a new brush?

I feel like I'm stepping backward as I rewrite The Bookmark. Maybe I should work on a couple bios to sort of warm up.Β

off the top of my head are:
Ella Enchanted (Enchanted #1) by Gail Carson LevineΒ
East by Edith Pattou
User Unfriendly by Vivian Vande VeldeΒ (i think this one is boy narrator)
the girls might be a bit older then the one you are writing. although ella starts when she is young. East i dont remember too much of. girl narrator but i do remember loving it when i read it.

I've been wracking my brain trying to think of books to read. I need to go through my shevles I know I have some that might have a younger narrator. Or maybe I should just make Kyla older...15 or 16?Β

how important is it to the story for it to be in her voice? can it be in third person? should it be told from another characters point of view? will it be better if she is older? what about younger?
the whole point is, what is the best way to tell the story?
i would say, read Diana Wayne Jones. i dont remember her writing first person but her books are full of young kids going through a lot of diff adventures. the think the way to tell the story from a younger pov is to focus less on the self. i've noticed i pay more and more attention to my inner self as i grow up. but when i think back to my self at a younger age, it was ether to a less degree or focused on other things.

I've never really thought about it. The story might flow a little more naturally in 3rd, I think the only pov it works from is Kyla's, and I hesitate to pop into anyone else's consciousness. That is, in fact, why I decided not to put it in 3rd in the first edit I did. It's Ky's story so if I did switch it, it would remain hers.Β
