Description Just a few progress shots I took while I worked on this.
I find that various ways painters work, fascinating. They way your mind works can be viewed by how you paint. What approach you use. How messy or controlled and tidy the work on progress is, will give a hit as to how your mind coupes or how comfortable it is in messy situations. I mean, some can't stand the mess, they need each step to follow the next. others like to just splash things on! and sort out the art from the chaos.

Or that's my theory at least
I work diff depending on mood and state of mind. I find I have two distinct settings. One is restless, wild and loud and likes the chaos and mess. It rages and is dramatic!
The other side is calm and clean and ordered. It likes the details and long stretches of unmarked time. It likes clear lines and lists and plans ahead.
Both approaches are mine, but cannot be used on the wrong days.

Not sure if anyone one else thinks like this, or bothers to study how they think in the first place Some people are the just do it variety and not really care how its done.

I work on manga Studio these days. It does not have the cool textures brushed as Photoshop, but works better if you have a weaker computer. Photoshop tends to lag like crazy.

"How messy or controlled and tidy the work on progress is, will give a hit as to how your mind coupes or how comfortable it is in messy situations."

That sentence in particular really struck me. I appreciate it whenever artists show or tell where they made decisions during the creation of artwork, but you're the first who ever mentioned the messiness. How DO we each deal with messiness while we're moving towards a completed picture?

I don't have a signature set of steps when I work. It depends on the project at hand. I can do 2 pieces in the same medium and size, and even the same subject matter, and go about them completely different. I do notice that when I paint (especially in oils) I am very messy at the beginning. About halfway through I'm thinking to myself "man, I can't wait for this thing to come together", then at the end it's victory!
The only mediums that I don't have a messy style with is graphite and colored pencil. Always realistic, always lots of layers and blending.

This was enlightening and I really glad you shared this!
I'm learning how other artists paint and work and it's making the process of learning to paint less daunting, so thank you for sharing this progress!

Oh I'm so glad! I remember being the one looking and studying other artists work on DA and I was always so glad when they gave the backstage pass to how they work.
It's just really hard to imagine myself as being the one others want to know more about

If there is anything I do that you'd like to know more about, feel free to ask!
