Description
She is beautiful as she is powerful. This is Pennsylvania Railroad's most famous locomotive. The GG1 Electric Locomotive. Designed and engineered by George Gibbs and streamlined by Raymond Loewy, these locomotive were designed to haul train between New York and Washington DC in a fast and efficicient manner and they did the job far better than any locomotive ever built prior to them. They've also hauled train between Philadelphia and Harrisburg, Pa. and in the late 1960's through the early 1980's they've also ventured into New Haven Ct. as well. The GG1's have since been retired and replaced by more state of the art locomotives. As impressive as they are, they can never imitate the grace and beauty of the GG1.
