Description

The scary noise grew louder and louder. The hissing and screaming echoed inside his head. He ran as fast as he could, his legs barely keeping up, until he saw the source of the commotion; an exasperated Rattlesnake and 2 malnourished horses. Before Darren could think about it the Rattlesnake pierced it’s eyes at him after which it flew towards the stallion. The mare and her foal crippled to a safer distance while Darren tried to fight of the enemy. It lashed towards him and swiftly he jumped backwards after which he used a counter attack. His hoof holding the animal to the ground made it slitter and hiss even louder, but after some time it stopped. The stallion snorted loudly while his chest moved heavily because of his lungs inside. A whimper sounded from afar. He looked over, only to see the foal crying over his exhausted mother. Darren went over to check upon them. Besides being malnourished they didn’t seem to be in a bad state. The left back leg of the mare was damaged with some blood seeping out, but it certainly wasn’t bad. He nuzzled the mare with his ears pinched forward to make sure she didn’t see him as another threat. The foal curiously came closer while telling him their names. May and Yara. “I’ll take care of you.” Darren whispered, after while he carefully cleaned the wound of the mare.
