For being so lanky, he must be quite the warrior. Judging by those scars I have two conclusions: he either had his appendix removed, or he was in one hell of a knife fight!

Interesting observations. ^__^ He's not exactly a warrior per se but he will fight if he has to and he has had to fight on occasion. He's not ace at it though. It's not his strong suit. He's a runner, fast as hell. He can run and jump through the trees, almost surfing through the vegetation in a way. :3 Β

So does that mean he's more of a Rogue than some brutish warrior? I guess that explains why he's so handsome, he must be quite the charmer too...

BJPentecost In reply to TickleMeHoHo [2014-07-12 22:32:29 +0000 UTC]
Indeed. He's definitely not brutish and he can be charming though it's more of a haphazard accidental charm. :3

Like he doesn't know he's being charming, he's just being himself?

Reminds me of the Rococo style of painting because of the way you did the plants and flowers.

It's interesting how many people say that. I was honestly expecting the first one to get a lot of sticks and stones because it was kinda.... well..... bad imo. XD

I am as always struck by the anatomical realism you show here. Add a bit of eccets I could have taken this for a real photograph.

Acrylics are nice because they dry quickly, so you can paint while on holiday and put it in your luggage for the flight back....

You've really improved since your earlier works. ( Though I kinda prefer the sci-fi theme to the fantasy one myself, but I'm a minimalist)
The clouds look real fluffy, and so does his tail. Good work with the textures here. You've also got a talent for the designs and embellishments your characters wear. Have you considered trying your hand at metalurgy?

BJPentecost In reply to anotalenthack [2014-06-18 20:06:54 +0000 UTC]
Thanks. ^__^ I have not ever tried my hand at metallurgy but BOY would I love to! If I had the time, that is one of many, many things I would love to try out. The closest I have ever come to metallurgy is 3D printing with metals. images1.sw-cdn.net/model/pictuβ¦
I really, really reaaaallllyyyyyy want to print this out in metal: www.shapeways.com/model/181635β¦ but it's too big. I'd have to break it up into pieces. And it would also be VERY expensive, probably around 350$ to print it in bronze or brass.

Very stunning painting! Are the leafs and flowers individually painted in, or more towards photo-manipulation?
π: 0 β©: 1
BJPentecost In reply to Dumpling-Canai [2014-06-18 20:02:13 +0000 UTC]
I painted most of the leaves by hand and I made some in Blender, rendered them, then composited them. It was a bit of a pain in the ass (setting up the materials for the leaves was a PAIN. XD) but I think it ended up looking good in the end so it is a technique I will be experimenting with further. I mean, if it looks like it could be photo-manip, then hell yeah, you bet your ass I'll be trying that technique out some more. XD
So in short: Photoshop/Blender.
