Description PA(L)ague Doctor

September Patron Piece

the Plague Doctor is a specialized take on the PA(L) suit.  Designed off old SLDF PA(L) specs with the aid of Comstar, they are used by the mercenary Search and Rescue team, also called the Plague Doctors, who were formed in the 3070s to perform emergency service and rescue across the many battlefields, cities, etc that the WoB leveled with WMDs..

The suit has a mix of hard ablative plates and ballistic/nomex mesh undersuit. Overthis, a tyvek suit is worn over that, to protect/nuclear protection suit is worn to minimize the chance of the undersuit becoming comtaminated. Helping to further protect the pelvic area without compromising mobility, a ballistic weave half skirt is add.  The suit itself uses a mixture of myomers and servos to greatly increase the wearers strength and endurance.  Attached to the back is a self contained air supply, supplemented by heavily redundant filters in the mask that are used when airborne agents/radiation are not a concern. Both hands have fully manipulative hands, allowing for fine dexterous operations.  Over the back is a detachable poncho/cloak made of a boron and lead inmprignated fabric to add an extra level of hazmat protection, and is easily disposed of to help keep the underlying suit safer and cleaner.

The chest plate has a digital radiation exposure strip to help team members keep an eye on each other's exposure level. as well as analog button wrist comps on each wrist.  The helmet was intentionally designed to mimic the "Dottor Dea Peste" of the black plague, to visually announce their purpose.  The only offensive gear on the suits are a retractable vibro blade in each vambrace, used more for rescue reasons than combat.  Oft times the wearer will carry various weapons, as the WoB is known to not respect medical and rescue teams and in fact often target them.  This is the other reason that while most of their mechs ae sensor and electronic loaded units, or heavy lifting industrial mechs, they do keep a lance of fully armed Battlemechs and Platoon of Battle Armor to support their operations, amongst the various engineering vehicles, prime movers, MASH units, etc, that form the core of the Plague Doctors.
