INKtober 17 "Hildisvíni" Atlas*

In the waning days of the Pax Republica and early years of the Dark Age, real Battlemechs were scarce, let alone assault mechs.  So much like in the 3rd Succession War, even a bad Assault mech was a force to make opposing forces knees turn to jelly.

Such is the case with Hildisvíni, the heavily rebuilt Atlas driven by Deacon Trevaline, the current claimant to Lady Death Trevaline's former Pirate Band in the Tortuga Domnions.  Appearing in the late 3120s with a reformed Death's Consorts, Deacon terrorized the Inner Sphere worlds nearest the Dominions for most of the next 15 years.

Hildisvíni appears to be a heavily reconstructed AS7-RS. Much of this is speculation based on holovids of the mech in action, as the machine was never examined before it's and it's master's apparent destruction in the early 3140s.

What was most obvious were the extensive physical modifications.  One knee guard and should cover were covered in Spikes, as well as a pair jutting from the head, resembling the boar's tusks that likely spawned it's name.  The lower arms had been totally replaced with giant, crude melee Claws.  Evidence would indicate that the mech was equipped with some form of Triple Strength Myomers.  Cosmetically the front of a cockpit from another Atlas was welded to the left knee guard.

For ranged combat, each arm retained the original Large Lasers of the RS frame, with the torso mounted AC10 replaced with an LB-X version of similar caliber, but swapped to the other torso.  Close examination of the machine in holo footage did show the right torso had been extensively rebuilt, leading to speculation that the remaining structure could no longer support the mass and recoil of such a large weapon in it's right torso.  in place of the LRM15/SRM4 racks of the original design are a pair of SRM Hex Racks, one in each side torso. The ammunition did not appear to have CASE protection.

The armor itself appears mostly patchwork and possibly up to 20% lighter than the standard loadout for an Atlas.  Further assumptions are that it likely mounted a base set of Double Heatsinks, and it's bursts of speed imply either MASC or a Supercharger.

While barely more than a Frankenmech, especially compared to the units rolling out of factories now at the dawn of the ilClan, it was indeed more than enough to destroy the tanks and industrial mech mods it mostly faced.  Deacon and his Consorts luck would run out when his actions drew the attention of a joint task fore of a Knight of the Republic and Davion forces.

After being chased for nearly two years Death's Consorts would finally be trapped and brought to decisive battle on Morgan's Holdfast, in late 3142.  Faced off against units equipped with fully functional modern mechs, led by the Knight's Lament, the Consorts would be rushed, with Hildisvíni exploding in a spectacular fireball when it's weak right torso was breached and it's SRM magazine touched off. No one ejected, and as such it is assumed that Deacon Trevaline died with his machine.

*Did you really think I could leave the bane of the Mechwarrior Dark Age Clix collection alone?  Is the mech redesign GOOD?  No.  And sometimes they aren't meant to be.
