Description It's official, I've joined "The Line Is Drawn" art team over at CBR's "Comics Should BE Good" blog..... This week's topic: "Come up with a concept for AFTER Watchmen! Come up with your best (or worst) plot ideas of stuff that could have happened after Watchmen #12. Kid Rorschach? Dr. Manhattan Force? Do your best (or worst)!"

I chose from the Twitter feed, "Nite Owl and Silk Spectre morning talk show hosts."

(Laughs) Heh, oh that's good

Seriously though, given the writing and art team behind this massive PR st...I mean, comic book event, AFTER Watchmen isn't going to be terrible. In point of fact, it has the potential to be pretty damn amazing. I get why the "purists" and Alan Moore are, well, less then thrilled, but that doesn't detract from the potential AW has. The artists alone (i.e. Hughes, Cooke, etc) warrant purchasing the issues, however they just so happen to have some phenomenal writers along for the ride. Say what you will about DC Comics (most of which I would likely agree with it...) however, for this risky project, they made some smart choices.

They're not doing sequels, they're doing prequels. The banner is actually "Before Watchmen".

Thanks!

Yeah, the talent involved in AFTER WATCHMEN is pretty stellar, so I don't think they will be "bad comics." But WATCHMEN is one of those things that doesnt need prequels or sequels; The whole story is contained in that piece of singular work.

While I would agree that Moore's original opus stands on it's own, I don't quite agree that expanding on the stories begun in the Universe isn't necessary. Growing up I can not even begin to number the novels and other stories I read where I wondered, "What comes next?" or, in some cases, "What happened before?"

While many were satisfied with where the events of Watchmen ended, I'm sure more then a few were curious how the world would really change in light of "alien invasion" and the new World Peace.

As to prequels, we only saw small glimpses of what came before in the lives of the first and second generation of Heroes. To see events on both ends of the time line fleshed out is rather exciting. That said, were it not for the talent involved, I would be more then a little concerned. Of course, these are just my opinions.

"In other news, the topknot is making a comeback, Laurie, with the success of the Pale Horse tribute band, "Death Follow"."

"Well, Dan, I can tell you that I'm knot looking forward to the Grammies this year. Adrian Veidt is here to show us some new yoga exercises that he's created; we'll see how they work after these words from our sponsors."
