Ha ha, I've rendered nearly all my fractals out this big since February of last year. It's much easier to scale a piece down than it is to go back and re-render at a larger size.

As a fractal artist yourself, you know that statement is not quite precise - you don't choose a color, you choose a gradient and work within the gradient. Spherical plants are highly susceptible to an unpleasant "banding" effect with gradients where the colors in the gradient form "bands" across the image. It's difficult to work around, and I spent over an hour just trying and tweaking different gradients, color curves, and composition to get a pleasing effect. I found some decent alternatives, some of which I plan on submitting later, but this is what I found most pleasing out of my experimentation.

You are totally right about the gradients, but I worked with self created ones lately, so you kinda get to choose the colour. That might point out the difference between us two. But nevermind, what I wanted to say: Great piece and keep your work going!

Okay, I see. I haven't gotten around to trying to create my own gradients yet. It's definitely a gap in my knowledge.
