Some critics have claimed that they saw this coming at the end of the episode. So what? When a painter sits down to do a portrait, we all know what's going to be on the canvas, but the reality of it... the color, the expression, the emotion - it still moves us, shocks us, puts us in awe and captivates.
The pose of their bodies, how Will clings and Hannibal holds, and Hannibal's expression isn't smug or confident... it's relief. The whole motion of it captivates me... Hannibal looks over the precipice before he helps Will up and keeps his eyes closed when Will wraps his arm tight around Hannibal's neck. He saw it coming didn't struggle.
I love your image of that moment.
