Description
Sturm V
A little follow-up to my Tripartite drawing, this here is a depiction of Romanian Conducator Corneliu Codreanu observing aircraft of the Royal Romanian Air Force fly overhead in a demonstration of Romanian military power. In 1939, Romania possessed the second-largest air force in Southeastern Europe, after Austria-Czechia, as part of the Iron Guard's military build-up for their desired offensive of revenge against Bulgaria and Hungary. It would be this arm that would prove most devastating against the Allies, especially in conjunction with friendly Serbian and Greek forces, in the Axis's entry into the Second World War.
The planes seen here are a Potez 630, Hawker Hurricane Mk I, Potez 540, Bristol Blenheim, domestically-designed IAR-15, Loire 46, Dewoitine 520, Loughead Colorado, domestically-manufactured IAR 37, and Gloster Gladiator.
