Description Updates from my last map. Same story with some expanded information and more details on a few other states/tribes. Feedback welcome.

Major NationsFire Nation
  • Capital: Hari Bulkan, Royal Caldera City

  • Leader: Fire Lord Okuza

  •     The current Fire Lord has continued the non-interventionism policies initially set forth by the late Fire Lord Zuko. The demilitarization of the nation has ceased. The people have embraced their maritime and naval roots. Projecting strength at sea has become a necessity to protect the economic backbone that is the merchant fleet. Also to make good on the nation's pacts to protect the Air Nomads and other protected tribal nations. Commissioning in the Navy is once again a most prestigious career path for nobility and high-class citizens. Several academies nationwide mold the youth for a future in the military, government, or education. The Fire Nation's capital island has mostly maintained isolation from other cultures and immigrants keeping the heart of the nation pure with Fire Nation blood. The outer archipelago is a much different story as they are bastions of trade and commerce with Jonduri hosting the most ethnically diverse population in the entire nation. This great melding of peoples, cultures, and ideas has cultivated a spirit of innovation and engineering. The great coastal settlements have expanded much the same as Republic City in Avatar Aang time. Magnificent bridges, tunnels, canals, and manmade islands (through engineers and benders) fill the skyline.

        With significant pressure from their longstanding allegiances, the Fire Nation may be forced to end non-intervention policies to maintain peace among global powers. However, there is a mysterious domestic terrorist group that is causing mayhem that demands the attention of the Fire Lord.

    Major Settlements: Shuhon Island, North Chung-Ling, Jonduri, Ma’inca, Ember Island, Baizhi Sea

    United Republic of Nations
  • Capital: Republic City

  • Leader: President Phom

  • The United Republic of Nations continues to be a beacon of liberty, unity, and peace. The reconstruction following Kuvira’s invasion was arduous and prolonged. Raw materials were imported at record numbers and rail and highway systems leading to Republic City sprouted up to support the transport of such goods. The outsourcing of so much material and labor was a conduit for economic booms in traditional impoverished regions such as the Si Wong Desert. Internal conflict has remained the most pressing issue in the nation such as organized crime and extremist political movements. The cause for Kuvira’s Invasion; occupied Earth Kingdom lands, has remained a looming issue. This is thought to be caused by the division of national leaders on nearly every issue facing citizens. With constant outward pressure from the NEE, Jinshu, and other traditionalist communities against the URN occupying the Earth Kingdom lands illegally. Given the monarchy no longer exists this movement continues to wax and wane with support. Recent food shortages in Republic City have taken their toll on its citizens which many fear will open an avenue for enemies to take advantage of exploiting weakness. The URN is no longer as powerful as it once was but still has great diplomatic sway, technical supremacy, and powerful allies. The alliance with the Fire Nation is beginning to show cracks in how each nation is dealing with existential threats. The URN leadership is too timid to take a hard-line stance by either allowing the Commonwealth states to join or denouncing the expansion of the Si-Wong Federation. While the URN has failed to establish meaningful diplomatic relations with the Southern Water Tribe who continues to form stronger bonds with the Fire Nation.

    Qel’a Tribal Republic
  • Capital: Agna Qel’a

  • Leader: Commissioner Huat

  • The once-powerful water-bending tribe in the North has seen a swift decline in recent decades and is now in a full-fledged economic and social depression. The tribe never fully recovered from its failed unification war with the Southern Water Tribe. Chiefs Desna and Eska proved brutally strict and unyielding leaders. Their demanding nature drove many counselors to resign which led to them surrounding themselves with diminutive and ineffectual advisors. The entire tribe suffered and after many years of decline, a group of powerful citizens revolted Taking full control of the nation in the Hunters Revolution of 229AG; dissolving the traditional chiefdom. Officially now called the Qel’an Tribal Republic, though still commonly called the Northern Water Tribe. the government is led by the industrial business elite who have enacted state, social, and, civic programs to protect the working class. Economic resurgence was short-lived as the state-enforced partitions of industrial, agrarian, and merchant classes were strictly enforced.  This led to immense poverty and greater discontent than under the Chieftain's leadership. The military was bolstered to enforce these policies and as the only employment available with steady income and rations enlisting became the only option for the lower class. The natural resources of the North are now tapped to near exhaustion leaving its formidable naval fleet permanently docked. Citizens are now migrating away, often in secretive human smuggling operations, from the barren tundra and desolate capital to more opportunistic nations like the United Republic, the Commonwealth, the South Seas Union, and Taiqaa (although not formally recognized by the Qel’an government). Due to its alleged inhumane treatment of its citizens, several countries have enacted embargos against them. This has created a smuggler's paradise and driven market prices to record highs. The Commissioner is in constant deliberations to strike new trade deals to first fuel the fleet and second feed his people. His failures indicate he may soon take drastic action to reverse his fortunes.

    Southern Water Tribe
  • Capital: Wolf Cove

  • Leader: Chieftess Shiku

  • The Southern Water Tribe achieved true independence only after the Water Tribe Civil War Avatar Korra ended with the South's independence in 171AG. After separating from its northern kin the tribe became one of the swiftest-growing nations in the world. The Southern Water Tribe's ability to adapt and overcome offered them many boons in the modern era. International ventures of Southern Tribe businesspeople saw widespread success across the world and fostered a boom in industry and an expansion of their wares across the globe. Economic prosperity and social progressiveness lead to a renaissance and on the other side emerged a new great power in the world. Unlike the Fire Nation or the United Republic, the Southern Water Tribe has cultivated a spirit of globalism and liberty with the aim of lifting up all of its allies. Many of the independent island states once in the dominion of the Earth King are now more closely allied with the Southern Water Tribe. In his final years, Chief Tonraq aided many of the islands' states unifying them into a proper nation. This same spirit lives on as many other states have similar aspirations influenced by the South. The reach of the Southern Water Tribe is felt throughout much of the southern hemisphere through trade, culture, bending, and a spirit of cooperation. The tribe has a long memory though. So when the URN failed to come to the South's aid in the civil war coupled with President Raiko’s distrust of Avatar Korra, Chief Tonraq kept his tribe distant from the URN. The rifts formed decades ago have lingered for generations. The South prefers to do business and form alliances with other nations. As the Southern Water Tribes' power grows it does not bring the URN up alongside it.

    Whale Harbor

    Commonwealth of Earthen States
  • Capital: Zigan

  • Leader: President Yeshe

  • A collection of states petitioned to join the United Republic of Nations and were subsequently denied. The URN opted to disallow all petitioners due to ongoing contention that the URN illegally occupies traditional Earth Kingdom lands. These states alternatively opted to join together sharing common ideals and goals. Now known as the Commonwealth of Earthen States, or simply the Commonwealth. They have formed a government based on the URN with elected governors to rule over each state and a President at the head of them all. However, the form of democracy isn’t perfect and the governors of each state often fight for power and ignore the rulings of the president leaving them little more than a figurehead for world politics and a scapegoat for the governors. The eastern borders are often disputed with the Contested Zones in the North Earthen Continent. They lack a fully organized and unified military. Individual state militias fight for their own objectives and resources with bitter rivalries formed in petitioning for prestige and resources. Much of the overland trade to the URN first travels through the Commonwealth. The corrupt operators of the many thousand docks, bridges, toll lanes, highways, and ferries carve out their own fortunes. The Commonwealth has good relations with most other nation-states, save for the New Earth Empire, and wages a continuous fight against the outlaws, bandits, and vandals along the eastern border.

    New Earth Empire
  • Capital:

  • Leader: Emperor Lashyn

  • While the Empire under the rule of Kuvira was a failed fascist state, the core of what they offered still appealed to many in the Earth Continent. Seeking security and community, less extreme followers of Kuvira established the New Earthen Empire in the central Earth Continent. Maintaining a strong military and a rigid system of order and discipline, the nation began to thrive. Still, slowly the more extreme goals of the original empire returned to the rhetoric among the ruling class. But due to the will of the people and protest against the URN intervention the NEE was allowed to grow and is now a fully functional and recognized state. The NEE persistently denounces the URN's existence and the borders remain closed and heavily militarized. Controlling the massive central waterways has given great economic and freedom of movement advantages compared to other burgeoning nations. The islands of Jin and Gen in the north of the Serpents Bay are the most disputed area. The Commonwealth, backed by the URN, claim unjust occupation of their territory. The NEE has a large naval presence building both islands into entrench fortresses to launch an invasion of the Commonwealth or Contested Zones.

    Si-Wong Federation
  • Capital: Rala Bhru

  • Leader: Prime Minister Ishtan

  • A collection of wealthy merchants from the Si Wong Desert outskirts started supplying manpower and raw material to rebuild Republic City. A meteoric rise in wealth, political power, and influence lead to the establishment of the Si Wong Federation. What started as a council of business owners, merchants, and executives gave way to a new State Office, currently headed by Prime Minister Ishtan. Many businesses still hold sway but the fledgling nation has a standing military, border enforcement, and a thriving economy to become the most prosperous time in the history of the Si Wong Desert. The capital, Rala Bhru situated on the eastern coast is known as the jewel of the desert whose skyline now rivals Republic City. The great domed architecture style puts all those emerging from the desert in awe of its white-marbled spectacle. Prosperous times have given way to greedy merchants or prestige-seeking Army generals, seeking to make names for themselves and their families. Hostile business takeover, crippling tolls enacted to cross the desert highways, border expansion beyond internationally recognized lines. All the while Minister Ishtan’s power base grows with his coffers and military might. The United Republic is in no position to rebuke them given that the people of Si-Wong are so deeply responsible for rebuilding Republic City. The South Seas Union star rises just as quickly making the eastern sea lanes a region on the verge of armed conflict. The Air Monasteries were built along the mountains just south of Rala Bhru for the peacekeeping nomads during its early years. The Monasteries are now the largest Air Nomad site outside of the Temples and Arrobahd in the world.

    South Seas Union
  • Capital: Port Tuugaq, Big Island, Shimsom Islands

  • Leader: Chancellor Niani

  • The South Sea Union formed from the rich seafaring cultures worshipping a Divine Serpent Spirit. The major islands in the South Seas started as a mere alliance of ethnically similar peoples has blossomed into a maritime powerhouse. Boasting a fleet of merchant and naval vessels manned by a naval expeditionary force that ridded their home waters of pirates and raiders unaided. The SSU has made strong defense pacts with the SWT. The Southern Tribe is a loud supporter of the SSU’s model of democracy and freedom. Still expanding today with petitions to join from Nan Sha and more island states to the west much to the ire of the SWF. Migrants flok here from all less prosperous independent states in the south. With a growing naval force, many trade ports, and a growing industry harvesting untapped natural resources the nation is ripe with opportunity. Chancellor Niani maintains strong relations with the Air Nomads of the Southern and Eastern Temples often sending gifts for their continued sustenance. Typhoons have been in abundance of late, causing many to believe it's their Serpent Princess disfavoring Nan Sha joining the Union.

    Minor NationsZoafu = A
  • Capital: Zoafu

  • Leader: Matriarch Nan Beifong

  • Cultural capital for the arts and sciences for the entire world, Zoafu is a haven for progressives, liberals, and metal benders. The Beifong Family remains in power here and has much influence in worldly politics. The city expanded and laid claim to much of the surrounding lands as recompense for the sacking by General Kuviras Army. Before rebuilding the domes, work broke ground on outpost towers. Suyin Beifong refused to allow her piece of the world to be invaded again. Many hundred Earth Empire soldiers were repatriated to Zoafu and posted to these towers. Zoafu stands as a fortress just as Omashu does. Without the natural advantage of terrain, Zoafu uses technology to keep its independence.

    Omashu = B
  • Capital: Omashu

  • Leader: King Babor

  • The city of Omashu reigns as the final standing monarchy from the Earth Kingdom of old. Due to its advantageous location, Omashu is easily defended and fiercely independent from neighboring forces. Like the SWF, NEE, and the reigning anarchy that prevailed after the Red Lotus Insurrection. The city has also been slow to adapt to technological advancements and is behind most of the modern world. The King retains the popular support of his people and the monarchy remains as strong as ever. Forces move in the shadows, having infiltrated the city over many years. Using the example of the Fire Nation, those that wish to see the monarchy fall know they must topple it from within.

    Gaoling = C
  • Capital: Goaling

  • Leader: Governor Park

  • The wealthiest of the Independent Free States on the Earthen Continent. Goaling is still rich with gold from the Goaling Branch of the Beifong Family, or as they would argue the original sect of the family. These Beifongs were in fact some of the first supporters of the merchants guild that eventually founded the SWF but quickly distanced themselves after the official nation was formed. The heads of their family preferred their independence and overseeing their own trade deals. Rather than being subject to the Federations policies that were quickly growing faster in regulation than the Beifongs were comfortable with. The city now is in the Triumptive Alliance Defensive Pact with Zoafu and Omashu to retain their independence and free markets. Goaling leaders have felt they have funded the alliance disproportionally to the other members.

    Tong

        The state of Tong is a naturally beautiful region. Deeply forested foothills and mountains and even deeper rocky canyons. Long before the Great War, Earth Kingdom Generals found tactical value here, erecting forts and lookout towers along the spines of the mountain. This region is so rugged that some scholars believe there to be active family homesteads dating back centuries. Some of the fiercest fighting against the Fire Nation in the 100-Year War took place in Tong. So much so that the FN never gained a proper foothold here but not before setting much of the forest ablaze. Even against Kuvira’s empire, they were some of the longest holdouts using terrain to wage unconventional warfare against the might of her Empire. The people have taken great pride in both of these events and much of their culture is built around rugged individualism and self-reliance. After the defeat of Kuvira, the people welcomed the democratic elections and split from their traditional fealty to the Earth King. Tong’s unyielding independence and refusal to make allies with one of the major neighboring powers may soon be their downfall as they share borders with Omashu, Zoaling, the New Earth Empire, and the Si-Wong Federation. The region is a powder keg on the brink of all-out war or directly in the middle of one. Most remember that they have withstood before and can again.

    Nan Sha
  • Capital:

  • Leader: Governor Ahnxi

  • The Nan Sha State is home to the beautiful and vibrant Nan Sha River Valley. Outside of the stunning views and its natural beauty Nan Sha holds some very strategic territory as the bread basket of the southern continent. Situated between the bitter rivals of the SWF and SSU the state political stage has become a viper's nest of intrigue and espionage. The Governor is surrounded by supporters for both sides vying for control with the people caught in the middle. Nan Sha has recently petitioned for admission into the SSU greatly enraging SWF supporters and the SWF itself. Nan Sha is undoubtedly in the middle of what could soon be an all-out war. The governor fears retribution from the Si-Wong elitists. The unrest in the mountainous regions gives the SSU pause to admit them into the Union. Given its importance in the production of grain and produce, many nations may be forced to take sides for the fate of Nan Sha.

    Chin = D
  • Capital: Chin

  • Leader: Governor Umongke

  • The State of Chin is another independent State on the continent. Mostly impoverished and rural; the State has maintained relative stability throughout the years of turmoil and continued independence. Paranoia is entrenched in its leaders with growing powers all around them. Chin is known to harbor an ever-growing community of airbenders that did not assimilate into the pacifist nomadic ways of old. Their charismatic leader Sakuma often recruits these airbenders to come to join his commune and has recently started welcoming others on the fringes of social norms. While some call for the Governor of Chin to denounce this “cult” the governor enjoys the attention it brings and secretly supports Sakuma. Agents from both the NEE and SF have been confirmed to have infiltrated the governor's office.

    Jinshu
  • Capital: The Gilded Dome

  • Leader: The Great Sultan

  • The peoples of these eastern states of the old Earth Kingdom have resolved to be deeply spiritual. Never truly having lost the influence or regard for the Earth Sages; even after the Night of the Silenced Sages. A bastion for the Sages, they have amassed spiritual and political power in the past decades of turmoil. With renewed power, the Sages are the spiritual, community, and political leaders having unified four states under their domain. Democratic elections took place in each of the states that now make up Jinshu, but each leader has either wanned in influence to a degree in which they were forced to relinquish power to the Sages or they never truly had the power, to begin with. After the last governor attempted to banish the Sages, a Sultan was appointed by the elder sages, and having the majority support of the people overthrew and executed the Governer. The Sultan dissolved the previous borders and named them one people one State, Jinshu meaning the golden sands (lands). The Sultan continues to preside over the region to commune directly with the spirits and guide the people. The Sultans have taken advantage of the turmoil of the last decades and absorbed two additional states into Jinshu's sovereign territory. The Sultan is a posting for life selected by other Sages. Upon selection, the new Sultan is stripped of name and property to be the human embodiment of the spirit's will and the people's voice. The Golden Temples, great domed structures ringed in oasis-like motes, have been restored having existed prior to recorded history. The largest of which is the Sultan’s seat of power adorned in gold, rubies, and murals of many great Earth Avatars. Some outsiders see Jinshu as religious zealots and extremists while others support them for generating stability and peace in a historically tumultuous zone. BSS has made accusations of the Jinshu harassing their trade routes and the Jinshu being intolerant of nonbelievers. Only recently has this garnered greater attention from other nations as it has grown beyond a regional or spiritual dispute.

    Taiqaa = E
  • Capital:

  • Leader:

  • A northern state once part of the contested zones was a popular destination of migrant refugee water benders from the NWT escaping the oppressive new state policies. The waterbenders spread the word of sanctuary in this region and more and more fled the North to migrate to the colony. Now, the population of ethnic waterbenders outnumbers those of old Earth Kingdom origin. The colony is one of the few successful self-empowered states and the leaders are working towards official recognition but still have a long way to go. The many migrant hunters and waterbenders formed a local militia. They were trained and organized able to push out bandits and gangs. Their beginning successes inspired hope and soon after saw Earthbenders joining the ranks. The shared borders with the Contested Zones and the Orosan States keep the Militia dutifully occupied. Until these border disputes can be sorted, the colony is unlike to gain sovereign recognition.

    Chenbao
  • Capital: Bin-Er

  • Leader: Zongdu Hwaishan

  • A commercially prosperous state of the Old Earth Kingdom; able to maintain independence due to its dynastic merchant families and busy trade port and capital Bin-Er. Historically, merchant families have employed powerful companies of fortune-seeking soldiers to protect and defend the city. Kuvira was quickly able to sway this state to her New Earth Empire early in the reunification efforts by swaying the Mercenary Captains with great riches forming the backbone of her army. After Kuvira's defeat in Republic City, the hired soldiers returned to Chenboa and quickly regained their former employment by returning the turn cloak captains over to the heads of the merchant families. Since then the mercenaries have been more submissive to their employers but returned to the ragtag army of skilled soldiers but they lack discipline and order. Most believe that Chenboa joining the Commonwealth will greatly legitimize the fledgling nation but the local leaders have been stalwart in retaining independence; with minimal dissent from its citizens, even if their acquiescence is bought.

    Orasan States = F
  • Northern State: Orasan of the Peak: Minister Gara

  • Central State: Orasan of the Crater: Minister Yurek

  • Southern State: Orasan of the Steppe: Minister Musad

  • The Triumvirate states encompass the barren black steppe lands west of Ba Sing Se. An ancient family, the Orasa, had a short-lived dynastic rule stemming from this region before the First Earth King conquered all. This region has been wrought with historical poverty due to its rugged arid terrain. After the collapse of the Earth Kingdom and Kuviras Empire, several brothers claiming to be descendants of the Orasa bloodline stepped up and proclaimed dominion over the land. The twins Musa and Omad simultaneously declared undisputed rule which began a period of infighting and smaller skirmishes. Their Uncle Sanjar then also declared his own claim to rule and split the region in three. After years of strife, Avatar Korra helped settle an unsteady peace by setting ‘equal’  borders and allowing all three claimants to their own lands. Fittingly the warring brothers and uncle all named their state Orasan after the ancient empire. The northern state, known as Orasan of the Peak is the most rugged and highest part of the steppe ruled by Omad. The central state, known as Orasan of the Crater, is the location of an ancient holy site and the birthplace of the original dynasty known only as the burning crater for the flaming pit. Ruled by Uncle Sanjar, the most pious of the three. The final southernmost state known as Orasan of the Steppe is ruled by the second twin, Musad, in the oasis city of Mhre. Abbott Ikki once declared it “the worst oasis city in the world.” Any observer would find it difficult to dispute that statement as the city hosts a small aquifer cavern, with minimal foliage and less rainfall per year than some parts of the Si-Wong Desert. Mhre is where the first Orasa Emperor administered his people and built the first palace that was later destroyed by the first Earth King. Chin the Conquerer was born in this region and first established his mounted hordes. The black dry region is the migratory breeding ground for ostrich horses. Creatures that have been used as Earth Kingdom cavalry for thousands of years. The creatures are still found in abundance here. With the development of technology and a lesser demand, the creatures are more often seen as a nuisance. A herd of them can graze the entire season's harvest for the few viable farms in Orasan. Great effort is put into the herds' containment and prevention of overpopulation.

    Jalaling = G
  • Capital:

  • Leader: Governor Rahma

  •     The Peninsula state of Jalaling developed two distinctive cultures. The first is the traditional Earthbenders who resemble most of the former kingdom. They reside in the steep hills and central valleys cutting into the earth for agriculture and settlements. The second is the lowland dwellers along the coast. They resided in seaside or floating villages gaining all of their sustenance from the sea. What sets the peninsula apart from the rest of the continent is the lush dense jungles covering most of the land with views near that of the Fire Nation countryside. The coastal people are said to have been non-benders that broke off from the central communities due to discrimination moving to the coasts and making a prosperous living. Animosity has reigned between the two people for centuries. The highland folk often had the support of the Earth King but were never able to force the assimilation of the wealthy lowlanders. Governor Rahma was the first governor of the state to be elected with the popular vote from both cultures. Unity was the platform that she ran on and her rhetoric resonated likely due to the encroaching Jinshu zealots and Si-Wong naval presence. Time will tell if unity shall prevail or if deep historical divisions will lead to their fall.

    Qiangying = H

    (hard fast, steady) Shadow of the Wall translation, update from current below. The citizens of Qiangying are hard and resilient people. Rescinding north of Ba Sing Se in the cool dry steppe in the literal shadow of the wall. The people were oft forgotten in the annals of history and bypassed on common overland trade routes, the figurative shadow of the wall. The locals adopted the moniker of Shadowers. Knowing as long as the wall stood they would be in its shadow in every respect. A few temples spot the land and until recently, anything valuable tilled or mined went to the monarchy. In modern times the populace aims to redefine their fortunes.

    Bau Bsa = J

    Far East island nation (Cyan)/Bali

     An island nation and easternmost domain of the Earth Kingdom. With steady rainfall and fertile volcanic valleys, exotic spices, and grains are easily grown here. The demand for its luxury exports makes Bau Bsa one of the most traditionally wealthy provinces. Earth Kingdom nobles would often retreat to this island paradise. Spa houses, jewel halls, and fruit plantations would house noble guests for weeks at a time. Its isolation and luxury resources meant Bau Bsu remained mostly untouched in the war years. After the dissolution of the Earth King, the island was a true success story of the democratic elections. The state remains free to this day, a haven for tourists, and only minimal corruption from a few affluent merchants.

    Tubo

        [Ancient name for Tibet, high mountainous region] The far northwestern island chains and high plateaus boast treacherous coastlines and few safe harbors. The unforgiving landscape has often made this region a safe haven for refugees and migrants. Many credit this as the reason the Western Air Temples were founded nearby. The region was colonized in the final years of the 100-Year War. Several shipyards were constructed with abundant raw materials and used to build a great fleet. The colony was abandoned shortly after Admiral Zhao’s failed invasion of the Northern Water Tribe. There was no fleet to return to port and the remaining workers left to support the war effort elsewhere. Never highly populated and the short occupation means Tubo remains resource rich. Local governors aim to exploit this to lift the state out of poverty but the landscape still proves a challenge even with modern technology.

        Most famously, Avatar Aang discovered an Air Nomad settlement founded after the great genocide of his people. Anthropologists believe the settlement was only occupied for 10-15 years post-genocide before the occupants were all starved to death. Miraculously a small Sky Bison heard was found that Aang was able to use to fend off the extinction of the species.

    Tribal NationsKyoshi Island = 1

    Kyoshi Island gained independence generations ago and has maintained it due to its cultural significance and history. Chief Sokka and Avatar Aang worked alongside Suki to grant the island protection. Kyoshi Island has been a beacon of strength, independence, and equality ever since.

    Foggy Swamp Tribe

    The FST has maintained seclusion and protection from provisions set by Avatar Aang and reinforced by Avatar Korra for also making the swamp an environmentally protected zone. The tribe and Banyan groves are in a resurgence due to these protections after having been exploited and harvested by Kuvira’s Empire. While not completely against outsiders, few venture into the deepest parts of the swamp unless escorted by the tribe. Since the victory over Fire lord Ozai, waterbenders have regularly made pilgrimages to the swamp to exchange ideas, techniques, and skills with their distant water-bending kin.

    Arrobahd
  • Capital:

  • Leader: Abbott Jinora

  • Airbending Master Monk Tenzin charged each of his children with rebuilding an Air Temple while leaving Jinora at Air Temple Island. He spent the latter half of his life establishing a large sanctuary surrounding the ruins of the Northern Air Temple with the help of the URN and Avatar Korra. The land is now a conversation zone to the thriving Sky Bison herds, scattered mountain communities, and towering new Monasteries that arch around the ruins. The Northern Air Temple was never rebuilt and its ruins remain a memorial to all that occurred after its destruction by the Red Lotus. The land's primary use is that of the preservation of the Air Nomad people and culture. Over time the land was recognized as its own sovereign state. While many nomads call this place home there are too few to protect it and they often rely on the URN and FN to aid them. Given its mountainous borders protecting its lush inner valleys, the landscape offers the best protection.

    Western Air Temple = 2

        Meelo was charged to rebuild the temple by his father but instead opted to serve as an officer in the United Forces Army. Thus this temple remains the most scarcely inhabited. Enough Nomads are here permanently to staff it as a functioning rest area, resupply point, and pilgrimage for traveling Airbenders. It has several burgeoning villages around it with Air Nomads, Air Acolytes, Sun Warriors, and Northern Water Tribe refugees

    Southern Air Temple = 3
  • Capital:

  • Leader: Abbott Rohan

  • Rohan, who turned out to be most like his father, was charged with fully rebuilding this temple. Being the original home of Avatar Aang the temple remains the least changed and is preserved and populated nearly to pre-genocide levels.

    Eastern Air Temple = 4
  • Capital:

  • Leader: Abbott Ikki

  • Ikki was charged with rebuilding this temple and has been the most successful. She still resides here with her large family. While retaining the traditional teachings Ikki has pioneered the Air Nomad Culture into a more modern world, inviting technologies and remodeling the temple to mirror her industrious ideals. Many have accepted these changes as this is the most populous of all the temples.

    Reformed Sun Warrior's = 5
  • Capital: Taiyo

  • Leader: Chief Rezmerit

  • Avatar Aang spent a large portion of his life protecting and advocating for endangered cultures. This started with his own Air Nomads and expanded to the Sun Warriors. Due to his work, the Sun Warrior society is now thriving and expansive with large populations in their ancient cities and new communities all over the northwest islands. The Sun warriors have reinvigorated traditional customs and adopted more modern values and ideas to create a flourishing society that perfectly balances the past and future. With the sun warrior society as their stewards, the endangered dragon populations are now in resurgence being offered the same protections as the Sky Bison.

    Teroan Tideseekers = 6
  • Capital:

  • Leader: Hepe(Chief) Pennai

  • An ancient seagoing people that were some of the earliest known people to traverse deep open oceans. This tribe was rediscovered in Avatar Aang's later life and he quickly offered them the same protections as the Sun Warriors. Since then the people have thrived and expanded. While the entire south end of the peninsula is dedicated to their sustenance they only occupy a fraction of it and the majority of that is coastal. The Tide seekers are deeply spiritual and still offer daily praise and honor to an ancient Avatar from their tribe. Any outsider would believe this Avatar had lived only a generation or two ago with revered the Seekers speak of her. In actuality, Teroa was an Avatar from nearly the beginning of the cycle.

    Pangolin Cave-Dwellers = 7
  • Capital:

  • Leader:

  • An ancient clan of Earthbenders, the Pangolin resides primarily in a massive underground cave network. The tribe has had very minimal contact with the rest of the world. So much so that the idea of the Avatar is more folklore than fact. Air Nomads first made contact with them opening up their elaborate cave systems and culture to select outsiders. Several of their tribal leaders recently accompanied some Air Nomads on their travels. The Pangolin are excellent craftsmen and their wares are now in high demand following the tour. Custom to the darkness they are excellent hunters and practitioners of stealth.

    OtherContested Zones

    A collection of anarchist territories that are mostly agrarian and riddled with poverty. Never truly recovering from the end of the monarchy and having many supporters of the Red Lotus and other anti-establishment groups. Several attempts to stabilize the region have been attempted through neighboring powers. From democratic elections by the URN, appointed administrators by BSS, and Governor Generals by the NEE. All failed due to lacking local support or political pressure to withdraw forces as seen with the NEE. The Commonwealth has popular support to lead the region to peace. But the ECW isn’t yet stable enough in its own regions to make a meaningful difference and often does little more than relocate the rebels within their own borders to the contested zones as a temporary solution. While some mayors and constables exist their authority diminishes quickly outside of the borders of their own towns. The Air Nomand sovereignty shares long borders with the CZ making them subject to border raids. Whenever the Airbenders, often aided by the URN and FN, push the rebels and anarchists back it does little to quell the dissension of the people. Frustrations against the world order increase and the resistance against them only strengthens. The longer the CZ goes without peace, the harder it will become to root out the belligerents. All of these factors leave this region in constant turmoil.
