Description
Jonkeria was another one of the many synapsids that lived in Middle Permian South Africa. It was a large titanosuchian omnivore the size of a hippopotamus, and it likely lived its life much like a modern wild hog. Skeletally, Jonkeria resembled it's close relative (and natural predator) Titanosuchus, possessing and identical skull structure. However, a Jonkeria fossil specimen can be easily identified by the length of the animal's limbs and tail. Jonkeria might have also been semi-aquatic, frequently hanging out in bodies of water to cool off.
