the lines in gold make me think someone (hero?) wanted to go with steve out into the world
perhaps the origin was some experimental place? where they tried to copy the essance of the gods or something. might explain all the spirits and death and stuff- 'failed experiments'
so if steve was the one correct copy, then whoever we see might be an imperfect copy
or was it an escape?
