Description I knew that this day was coming; shitposts that involve replacing live action film/tv characters with their animated roles their respective actors played... Again, GODDAMN YOU ... and seeing that it is the Christmas season, I'd figured I'd start with the 1962 War classic you see here... and with Col. T. E. Lawrence being cast as probably the only animated film role that his actor, Peter O'Toole, has done; Pantaloon, the distinguished yet still comically bumbling, Shakespeare quoting (Well, makes sense, since O'Toole WAS trained in the style of the Bard himself) Tin Major General from the 1990 Warner Bros./Lacewood productions adaptation of The Nutcracker Prince, also starring Keither Sutherland, Megan Follows, Mike MacDonald and Phyllis Diller.
And I must admit that this 1990 adaptation (Despite it's kinda obvious looseness) is a rather guilty pleasure for me to watch during the Holiday's, and I guess I can consider it the "best" (If not least offensive, considering the fact that THIS exists! ) film adaptation of the original ballet (Aside from the Tom and Jerry version, that's what I heard), mainly because (Well, ASIDES the fact that it's... well, FREAKIN' TCHAIKOVSKY, my own personal Shakespeare, DUH!) of Pantaloon himself. For some odd reason, his quote involving name-dropping of such famous English/Shakespearean battles (and I quote; "WHY there isn't a significant battle I haven't studied, uh... Agincourt, Dunsinane, Bosworth Field, just to name a few..." much to the annoyance of his troops) always makes me smile a lot.
A couple more moments is when during the battle with MacDonald's Mouse King, Pantaloon cries out this little ditty from Richard III; "If not to Heaven, then hand in hand to Hell!" (Followed by a little self-aware-by-kid's-film-standards reprimand from the HEAVILY Southern accented character Marie; "Such language! It's absolutely shocking!") The other is when he took quite a nasty tumble after the battle, resulting in this hilarious misquote from King John. "Heaven, take my bones... England, keep my... Soul?"
(Of course, most depictions of the original story do see the Nutcracker and his troops usually modeled like those Englishmen who thought gallantly alongside Wellington at Waterloo.)
Anyways, hope I get more Christmas deviations out this year, seeing that I'm trying to juggle my work with my personal life! If you know of any other animated roles the actors from the 1962 biopic has been noted to star in, let me know!
