Description The show has come to its end: Mr. Dave Holland enjoys the ovation with joy, satisfaction and a bit of well deserved proud.
Those who think that musicians tend to become conservative after a long career, well, they just have to listen to Dave Holland's jazz. His music is somehow tied to a path of tradition, but nonetheless it is continuously evolving and always projected into modernity.
It was a truly amazing show, where instinctive playing and the masterful class of all the musicians on the stage merged into a perfect, unbelievable balance.

don't worry - i can understand *indi-is-conan 's point of view... it would be interesting to try the spiral against a large number of pictures and see how many of them do match. before the try, they should be parted into two groups, according to the "first sight" effectiveness of composition. thus, we could make some hypothesis on the relationship between the spiral and the effectiveness itself.

i think he really was. they played an amazing concert and the audience tributed them an enthusiast ovation. i guess it's the look and smile of a man who is aware of having walked a long road and reached an universally acknowledged success.

I think I understand that. Musicians who love their audience, love their music, and play with joy look like this. I know some. I also know a lot who have lost touch with what it means to be happy...even when confronted with adulation.

(Have you ever watched the rappers at a Grammy celebration ...or MTV awards. They simply look angry and sullen .... how can that be!?)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

barninga In reply to myrnajacobs [2008-04-15 22:15:30 +0000 UTC]

those who enjoy adulation or can't distinguish it from sincere admiration are poor people. they are lost in themselves. just like those who live in a sort of sickness of everything around them so deeply that they cannot even perceive the wonderful feeling returning back from an audience delighted with their own art. even if this condition is maybe more common among pop and rock so-called-stars, you can see it in some very popular jazz musician.
about rappers, i think that often their angriness is a pose. it makes the character, you know, rappers -the true ones- are rebels. maybe sometimes it becomes part of their personality without they realizing it completely.

Great Shot (they reallly should pay you for this)

I think only mediocre musicians get conservative, I find the ones that are wrapped in the soul of music continue to evlove throughout thier careers/lives. Mediocre really is the word I was looking for, but it will have to do
