Description
A piece inspired by my dear friend 's character as well as our friendship over the past few years. This piece was started a few years ago now while I was visiting Taiwan but just never seemed to be finished. On tidying my computer I came across it again and decided to see if perspectives had changed enough to bring it to completion. Turns out they had. Sometimes it pays to step away from a piece when you feel you are grinding it, though most of the time I advise myself to work the piece while the idea's roots have first taken hold. A great many pieces I start and lose steam for along the way don't get finished, but I often keep them and return to them in an idle moment. With the turning of the old year into the new I have a tradition of tidying house and computer before I turn to the new page. This is also a time of reflection and I found myself feeling extraordinarily grateful for the influence and color this vivacious person has brought into my life. Thank you Maquenda.

Gorgeous. I instantly thought of Maq when I saw this thumbnail, you did a great job capturing her essence. I need to take a page out of your book and revisit some old pieces as well. Sometimes old concepts can have new life with fresh eyes a few years down the road. I often have that experience when looking through old sketchbooks.

oh man those time you spent away to develop your skill and then coming back to your old piece is definitely worth it! this looks MAGNIFICENT. i love how sweet the colors you choose, and how tranquil the atmosphere looks. i'm bad at drawing animals so seeing animals drawn in unique ways are always fascinating to see
