Description
This is the first time I've ever made a character based off someone else's species. Zris here is a Tillanix, which belong to . I'd give some background information on them...but they haven't appeared in her comic very much yet (leave it to me to fall in love with unimportant background stuff) and the general information she has written about them is mostly exclusive to members of her Patreon that hasn't been made public yet. So I'll wait until she releases that info publicly before giving a very abridged version of the Tillanix social stuff and how it relates to Zris in this description....or if you really wanted to read about the Tillanix, you could support AlfaFilly's patreon, that works too! She deserves it.
Only other thing I have to say is that I like how the shading turned out, I think I'm starting to kind of sort of get the hang of it.

Honestly, I probably don't know her as well as I should when I designed her, I just kinda felt out her general personality as her traits got drawn. I've got a basic idea of what her personal story is, at least.

I think you did such a great job! I love that you spent a lot of time really paying attention to the meager few Tillanix I have art of to get the design accurate. That means a lot that folks care enough to dig into that stuff. I think she looks amazing! Lots of personality in both her clothing and the way she leans against the wall like that.
Also... those are some great shoes. Shoes are hard to draw but these are like... amazing shoes LOL
I think your shading is amazing too! You're really improving a lot with it!

I'm glad you like it! I can't quite put my finger on why the Tillanix resonated with me, they just kinda struck the right chords I guess. The one thing I wasn't sure about in making the design accurate to how you portray them, is that I've only really seen one Tillanix in full color, and they were like a really dark blue, and I made Zris really dark too, but kinda purple-ish? That's the only thing I wasn't super sure was fully accurate, but I liked the look it gave her and I stuck with it.
I looked up a very specific reference for those shoes so I'm glad they're good shoes XD
And yeah, I totally forgot making an OC was legit for your contest, I was planning on making something slightly bigger in scale, which means I've been making a lot of art content featuring your stuff recently. It might be strange to say, but I hope it doesn't seem weird, it's just kinda how things worked out, each piece of art came about because of a different reason.

They can be different colors so long as they're fairly dark like that! Their scales have a tendency to be kinda iridescent (like some bug shells if that makes sense?) but this kinda color (purpley) and blue is the most common! Dark reds and greens can also happen somewhat commonly (I just don't really like how they look green imo XD but they can be!) So you're fine! For a looong time, they were just dark blue and nothing else, but I started adding some bits of variety to them over the years. I had a colored version of one of the ToH panels in the description of a page and he was also blue under the sepia: just ignore the ugly Photobucket watermark XD But varieties of that are more than welcomed! I just never experimented with it much. Tillanix have more-so been a race I just think about and write into stuff but never draw... poor guys.
Nah, I don't find it weird at all. If my worlds/content or even my discord server can inspire someone to draw something, that's all I care about. I like that I can make people inspired!
