Description
One of my previous designs! The owner wanted me to make edits to it the make it more cat-like for its ref! Put a bit more effort into this one and love the finished product <3 I am slowly trying to knock out my bigger commissions before getting back to trying to rebuild the small ones.
Artwork Update [1 Year of Art Gone]I’m devastatingly upset right now. Last night I was forced to hard restore my iPad Pro because it had some kind of malfunction. I lost a years worth of artwork and photos/images because the last time it was backed up was July 9th of 2019. That being because my iCloud was full and wouldn’t let me back it up again after that and, up until very recently, my laptop was out of commission and I hadn’t had a chance to back it up on there yet.You can follow my struggle a bit more briefly over on my Twitter where I tried asking for help and had things slightly catalogued: https://mobile.twitter.com/badC4T/status/1279575192960983040But, I’ll be explaining a bit more in depth here because, this effects a lot, if not nearly all, of my current commissioners. My iPad hadn’t shown any signs of having some kind of significant software malfunction before this. I came back home from work last night and went to get on my iPad to finish a user’s commission. I noticed it was being a bit slow with loading things so, I turned it off and went to let it sit and chill for a little. But, when I went to turn it back on, it wouldn’t. It’d get stuck on the black screen with the logo. I tried to force reset it multiple times but, each time it always got stuck at the logo. I plugged it into my laptop and still nothing. I couldn’t even try and back it up. This is where I started to freak out a bit and tried looking stuff up and went to twitter for help. Going by both the Apple support website and a website another Twitter user linked me, it said the best way to fix this was to perform a recovery update. So, I put my iPad into recovery mode and started an update. 92% of the way on my laptop (only 50% through on my iPad) I got an error. The update didn’t work. I read up on the error number I was given (14) and tried fixing things accordingly. Switched to an Apple brand iPad supported lightning cable, made sure my firewall wasn’t blocking iTunes and my security software was off, my WiFi connection was fine, etc. Then I restarted both devices and tried again. Same error, update failed. And the same thing the next two times after that. I even bought a third party software that claimed it could recover iPads in this state and it just did the same exact thing iTunes did. I did everything that program told me to do to fix the error too and it was still the same outcome no matter what. At this point all I could think is that my iPad just didn’t have enough room for an update on it. And now it wouldn’t even let me leave recovery mode. It’d just turn off, turn back on, and go right back to recovery mode no matter how many times it was forced reset. I even used the third party program, that has a function to force it out of recovery mode, and it’d just do the same exact thing. Eventually it was forced into DFU mode after continuous attempts to try and update or fix it without losing data. For those who don’t know, DFU mode is when your Apple product goes completely black and won’t turn on or function in any way yet is still sensed by iTunes when connected to your PC with a lightning cable. The only way to get out of it is to factory reset your Apple device. So, that’s what I had to do.I kid you not when I say I had a headache from crying so much last night. A year may not seem very long, or even look like very much if you were to look at the year lost in my gallery. But, I had so many WIPs of unfinished commissions people paid me for, personal projects, gifts for friends, commissions I bought from others, etc. on there. Things that I hadn’t shared or posted anywhere yet. And now it’s just poof, gone. Completely down the drain and unable to be found again. For my commissioners, I’m trying my best to salvage what I can. I’ll be taking the next day or two to scower Twitter, my Stash, and especially Discord for any WIPs I might’ve shared so I at the very least have somewhere to start from. Those who have on-base commissions such as the custom gremlins, PYP imps, etc. I’ll be taking my posted artworks and tracing over the base. I’ll have to recolor everything. For those of you with custom designs, AB ref add-ons from a one-off design auction, or any other “from scratch” commission, unless I’m able to find some kind of WIP stored away somewhere, chances are I’ll have to completely restart. More than likely I’ll be noting people too to get details for commissions again since all my screenshots I kept of old notes are also gone.I really don’t know what else to do at this point. I feel utterly defeated because that’s so much history just gone and there’s absolutely nothing I can do about it. It was so much work, and one of my most active years of drawing too. And I feel like some people may be thinking I’m giving excuse after excuse but, this past year has just been a sprint where it’s more so my face on the ground than my feet. I’m absolutely, 100% sorry to any of you who may be thinking that. You’re more than welcome to contact me with any issues so I at least can attempt to resolve it.But, anyway, all I can really do is attempt to rebuild some of the stuff that was lost. So that’s what I’ll be doing.I hope you guys are having a better time than I am. Although, with the world’s current state as a whole, I feel like that’s a bit of a difficult thing to do right now anyway. So, just stay safe, try to enjoy what you’re able to, and backup your iPads.
