A quick D&D piece featuring an Elf of the Shadowfell! One of the pieces of lore I loved most about them is their mutable appearance. When walking about in the sunlit, material world, they have the same youthful beauty shared by all their Elven kin. However, in their native realm of shadows, they appear as withered, ancient beings, revealing the weight of history upon their endlessly reincarnated souls. Inspired by this notion, I thought it would be fun to take this a step further, portray this as an innate illusory effect whenever they're in bright light vs. low light.
