Description “Where are we going now?” Alice inquired.  Now, she was walking down a dirt path with Oz and Gil.

“My house, Alice!” Oz said merrily, skipping ahead of her.

“Oh.  What for?” she continued.

“Well, I’m supposed to go visit the Duchess soon, but I forgot my gloves at home.”

“Why do you need gloves?”

“Stop being so nosy,” Gil interjected.

“Shut up, seaweed head.”

“Stupid rabbit.”

“Why you-“

“Alright now!” Oz said, stepping between them.

“He started it,” Alice said, pointing at Gil.

“She was being rude.”

“Gil, shut up.”

“But-“

“No buts!”

Oz chuckled as Gil sighed in exasperation.

“You’re going to be late for your visit with the Duchess,” he said, giving up.

“I know,” Oz replied nonchalantly.

“She’s not going to be happy.”

“No, she isn’t.”

“Who’s the Duchess?”

“Who’s the… where is she from, anyway?” Gil asked.

“I’m right here you know!”

“She’s from above ground.”

Gil stopped in his tracks.  “She’s from above ground!?”

“Yup.”

“And how did she-“

“She followed me down.”

“You brought her here!?”

“I just said that she followed me.”

“Wait a minute!” Alice interjected.  She was having trouble keeping up with their argument.  “I’m from above ground, so what does that mean?”

“It means you’re not supposed to be here,” Gil answered, glaring at her.  Alice glared back.

“Gil, can I talk to you for a minute?”  Oz and Gil took a few steps away from her.
Alice observed them closely.  They weren’t speaking loud enough for her to hear, but it looked like they were still arguing.  Oz’s expression was completely serious, and Gil kept glancing back at her.  After a few minutes, they continued to Oz’s house, with Gil looking somewhat defeated and Oz completely back to normal.

It was a small cottage on the side of the road.  Inside, it was nice and tidy, with a few seats and a fireplace in the first room.  As Oz went to retrieve his gloves, Gil took a seat and Alice looked around.  Peeking into the kitchen, her stomach growled, making her realize how hungry she had become.  Reaching into her pocket, she pulled out the box she has taken earlier from the glass table.  She popped one of the miniature cakes into her mouth and found it to be rather tasty.  But as she reached for another one, she found that her hand had grown too large to fit in the box.  Startled, she jumped and hit her head on the ceiling.

“Oi, what are you up to, stupid rabbit?” Gil called from the first room.

“Alice, we’re ready to go now!” Oz joined in.  “Alice?”

Oz entered the kitchen.  He jumped when he saw that she had grown nearly twice her original height.

“What’s taking so long?” Gil said, walking into the kitchen. “GAH!  Why is she a giant!?”

“I’m not that big, stupid!  All I did was eat one of those cakes!”  She pointed to the open box.

Gil shook his head in exasperation.  “It’s because you’re not from here.  The food has some… weird side effects.”

“Well how do I change back?”

“Did you take the bottle?” Oz asked.

“What?”

“From the room with the glass table.  The one that said ‘Drink Me.’”

“Yes.  Why?”

“Drink it.”

She carefully took it out of her pocket and carefully removed the lid.  She took a sip, then another, and was relieved to see that Oz was taller than her again.

“Does this mean I can’t eat anything while I’m here?” she asked.

“Hmmm… that’s a good question,” Oz said, pondering.

“I guess she’ll just have to starve,” Gil muttered.

“Gil, that’s mean!” Oz scolded.  Alice just glared at him.

“Alright, let’s go then!”
