What watercolors do you use? I saw that kind a while ago and almost bought it, but didn't and I regret it because I cant remember what they were called.

I never understood how people can make detailed paintings like this with watercolor. My teachers always showed us examles of something very vague and barely distingishable.

You should stretch/tape down your paper to keep it from buckling.

To stretch the paper: get a tub and soak the paper for a few minutes before taking it out and wiping it down with a paper towel/towel so it is merely damp. Then staple the edges to a board or tape it down with paper tape (brown tape). Word of warning: my teacher claimed the paper tape would peel right up without hurting the paper, but a few people had to cut it off. Until you test the tape, I would tape down the edges only; don't go right up to the image. Wait until the paper is fully dried and then begin your painting.

You can also do it the lazy way, and just tape down your edges with masking tape without soaking the paper. It will still buckle, but not quite as much.

To flatten the paper after it has buckled, lightly dampen the back of the paper and place the painting under some heavy books. Should smooth right out.
