this is both amazing and really creepy, the fact that all those little lines are dooing somthing and have a purpose is just insane, they are all there for a reason. the human body freaks me out, it may sound weird but when you think about it and how it all works its quite freaky i dont like to think about it much. but this is great by the way the colours are great and just how you got this in focus and in this much detail is a feet. i applaude you

How did you get such high magnification? This looks higher than 1:1.

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

AzureGuardian In reply to vitriolata [2005-07-17 14:33:55 +0000 UTC]

bah... you have to hold it against your camera with the camera mound facing out.. so that it is "reversed"

I cant believe i wrote all of that and messed it up

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

AzureGuardian In reply to vitriolata [2005-07-17 14:32:31 +0000 UTC]

This is the magic of reversed SLR lenses. I would have to say that it is hard to do but worth it. If you take the lens that you would normally put on your cam and hold it against the front of your camera the focal length is fixed super close to your cam. This makes the magnification so much higher than if you attached the lens normally. On new electronic lenses you have no control over the dof. so it is razor thin and i mean it. But if you buy an older lens with a manual apreture ring you can still control it.. I would recomend a really fast lens no greater than 50 mm. I use the 50mm 1.8 FD lens from canon. If you use a wide angle lens the magnification will be greater than if you use a zoom lens. but the focal length will be much shorter and will be much harder to focus. The dof will be pretty much nothing. Almost all of the macros in my gallery are done with this method.

Take a peek and give it a try

The detail on this photo is just simply amamzing. The colours are strong, and flow together well. Looks amazing, keep up the fantastic work.

ARGH! Thats Soooo Awesome ! What Macro Did You Use?? And How Did You Keep The Light On The Eye!?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AzureGuardian In reply to AzPaz [2005-06-01 02:58:42 +0000 UTC]

Hmm... well I used prolly a 50mm lens reversed so it magnified the eye and i hate to say it but the lighting is all artificial... Just the standard issue flash. Maybe i will play more if i can find someones eyes so pretty as cindis..

Woahahah! Amazing! Bloody amazing! I love the detail, it looks so 3D! I can almost get my finger through that eye pattern. It would be nice to see a little more to the eye than just the iris pupil area but i love it anyway!

lateralusSPIRAL [2005-04-13 02:43:06 +0000 UTC]

I love this one! First off, it's an eye. I love eyes. Second, the color is so soothing and comforting, yet there's the contrast of that big black hole. It would have been a bit better if you had got the top of the pupil, along with the edge of her iris on the right hand side.
