Short Bio:
The highest-ranking officer within the Dominion's newly formed ODST Corps, Barnes has a long and substantial service record within the UNSC before joining Vice Admiral Cole in his desertion, having been present in several key battles against the Covenant in the 2530s. Cunning, highly skilled, and considered by most to be very reliable if not unorthodox (or obnoxious depending on who you speak.), Leonard Barnes is considered by many to be one of the Dominion's best military assets, with both his command and Helljumpers helping in containing a few crises and schisms that have plagued the early Dominion. Despite his rather sarcastic and somewhat obnoxious behavior towards others, Barnes is also a no-nonsense warrior with a sharp calculating mind and a commanding presence in battle, often able to find and exploit situations and opportunities to his and his unit's advantage. Often times when not in the heat of battle, he can be found tinkering with his Battle Rifle, a cigar in his mouth and a glass of Tennessee Whiskey nearby, or out and about with his troopers socializing and looking out for them.

Oddly enough, not much about his past is known, with all but the most basic of information about his origins available. He claims to have served in the UNSC Army 101st Airborne Division during its annihilation in the Harvest Campaign before being offered to join the Helljumpers. He is also known to suffer from a strong case of alcoholism, no doubt due to the many years of service fighting the Covenant and watching so many die in an apocalyptic war, or perhaps from something much more personal. While efforts have been made to try and get his drinking under control, albeit with limited success, it is clear that Barnes has many personal demons and has no interest in stopping anytime soon. Interestingly enough, he also has his own Smart AI, Atlas, who stores herself in Barnes' prosthetic right arm and hand, which also contains a hidden Jagdkommando Dagger built into the hand. Why an ODST Colonel has been given his own smart AI, no one knows. But Atlas has shown she is completely loyal to the Colonel and is far more advanced than most AIs available to Humanity, only further adding to the mystery as to Leonard Barnes' past.
