Description I was taking photos of the ice on the lake and I turned slightly and these two were setting about 6 feet away from me so I snapped some photos. I tried to move for a better shot but as soon as I started they flew off. I guess they are not used to people yet.

Yea but how to you get the ties onto them?

Cool I am just west of you, I often go into Illinois on business to Chicago and into some of the smaller towns along the way.

Yes Hiawatha is attached to Cedar Rapids, I like it here except for the snow, but it is a nice area. And most of us here in Cedar Rapids are major stinkers.

My brother lived in Clive which is inside of Des Moines for a couple of years and the company I work for has an office there as well as our office that I work in here in Cedar Rapids.

And as for animals not used to people... I just had to add that once I nearly took an accidental picture (I know, that sounds odd, but it's true ) of deer, whipping my camera up as soon as they started running. Unfortunately, they ran into the neighbor's and I lost them after that *shakes head*.

You gotta be quick with some of these animals they are so scared of us normally that they go into panic mode at the slightest movement. It can be dangerous sometimes as well.

Doves. Ah, not turtle doves but an adorable pair nonetheless. I absolutely love the male's plumage (it makes sense to me that the plump one is the male ). And with the strong contrast of the iron railing--for an accidental photo, you got a very good shot! I hope to one day have your luck (for the picture of the bird I took... I'm glad I took the photo so now I can identify it, but, on the other hand, the background detracts from the appeal of the photo *sighs*).

Yes I thought they were tame because they were so close, but the minute I moved the least little bit....off they went!
