Инугами (犬神, переводится как "собачий бог" или "собачий дух") - это одна из разновидностей шикигами, или "фамильных духов", что не существует отдельно от своих владельцев - так называемых Инугами-моти, которые, чаще всего, и являются прижизненными хозяевами животных. Если привязать голодную собаку, поставить перед ней миску с едой так, чтобы она не могла до нее дотянуться, а когда животное достигнет высшей точки исступления, отрубить ему голову, то получится ину-гами — жестокий дух, которого можно натравливать на своих врагов. Ину-гами очень опасен и может наброситься на своего хозяина.--------------------
In Japanese mythology an inugami (犬神?, lit. "dog god") is a type of shikigami (式神?), similar to a familiar spirit, resembling, and usually originating from, a dog, and most commonly carrying out vengeance or acting as guardians on behalf of the inugami-mochi, or "inugami owner".
