Since Red has been around since '96, I figure he would take care of Leaf the n00b. Anyone else ever get conned into buying that damned Magikarp?EDIT : I have not completed my B or W games yet so thanks everyone for telling me the salesman appears in Unova (lol joke, I read it in the guide first and spoilt it for myself
). Also, I seem to be the only one who thinks Magi is a waste of time but at least I got people talking about it. And at the end of the day, that's all that matters

Thing is, the guy in Black and White with the Karp gives you the ONLY Karp in the game! You can't catch it anywhere!
While I never did really buy the Karp (I THINK....lord that was long ago!) there is some logic to it if you want to invest in a LOT of work to get a powerful pokemon, super early in the game. Is it work the 500 bucks? The answer is...iffy on that. For keeping a team at more or less the same level, it might be worth it to get a powerhouse so early. Otherwise....nope!

I bought a Magikarp and then put in the day care then before you know it, that Magikarp then became a killing machine, till this day, no regrets.

Haha, I bought the Magikarp, but I knew it was Magikarp. I trained it up to a super-strong Gyarados with just a little bit of elbow grease. =w= I'm rather fond of it now~

I bought the magicarp KNOWING it was crap lol. Worked damn hard to level it up and it payed off. Go gary ^-^ that's what I nicknamed him.. lame i know... But Gary kicked Gary's ass....

I did once, named her Maggie, heard she'd evolve into a super ferocious Pokemon, however, after two hours of trying to level her up, and that was just to get her to ten so she'd be equal with my Bulbasaur, I promptly boxed her and never thought of her again.

She is Green from the manga revised. Just like the guy is Red and the rival is Blue. Fire Red and Leaf Green were complete revamps of Red and Blue (And Green in Japan). This is Green because they didn't offer a playable girl back then. It's retelling the tale of Red Blue, and now Green through the games, HG and SS have called the main guy Red and the rival Blue. Just like the original Gold and Silver. So this girl is Green. She looks EXACTLY the same as she did in the manga, just with different clothes; therefore, it's Green.

Look at the top of the page of the link. It says "Leaf (game)".Its the sames as Kris/Chris, Leaf and Green are from different canons. You're right that she's Green in the manga but this is aimed at the games and in those she's called Leaf.

Actually. Green is Gary. Technically. She was Blue originally as the original games were Red and Green. And no she is not the same character as the one from the manga. She is different, and this Red is not the same Red as the old Red. At least, not in my mind, that might have been the intention but to me Original red has black hair not brown. All that aside, not this is not Green, It's Leaf.

That's in Japan, because they had Red and Green originally, they changed his name to Blue in America because we got Red and Blue, not Green...

It's no scam. It lets you start training up a Gyarados two towns early, and magikarp-raised Gyarados are TONS better in stat performance than caught Gyarados. If you really want a water type powerhouse, or at least don't want to stop to catch magikarp for a 100% pokedex, considering how you already bought supplies so you're not wasting any money, this is a good deal.
