Description Terraformed moon landscape from the CCC century. The regolith has been oxidized and weathered by the new conditions, so it's no longer sharp and grey. This new moon is still a dry and dusty world, and sandstorms are very frequent due to the low gravity, high air density (.5 atm) and the strong air currents caused by the great temperature differential between the night and day sides.

Most of the surface is still desert and devoid of plant life, and the atmosphere is mainly nitrogen and carbon dioxide, without enough oxygen to sustain higher lifeforms.

Along with Earth, Venus is visible too. I just love Venus. I try to put it in every painting I can.

Originally I wanted to add fractal patterns of light dots from futuristic cities on the night side of Earth; covering the continents and large portions of the ocean, but I liked more this way.
Besides, by this time humanity has already terraformed Mars, Venus and the Moon, so Earth has been heavily depopulated and restored to an almost pristine state.
Most of mankind lives on the terraformed worlds, the asteroid belt, the moons of the gas giants and hundreds of thousands of artificial space habitats. There are even a few colonies on extrasolar planets orbiting the nearest stars.

Thanks Liz!
That's nice, I only do space art, so I hope you enjoy the pieces I'll be uploading. I do a new space painting, like, every week.
I'm a specialist and I do not wish to do other thing than space art.

So, if the lunar soil is exposed to oxygen, they'd turn brown like Earth soil?

The truth is, I don't know if the oxidized regolith will be golden or brown or red. Maybe that will depend of its original composition.
Maybe the oxidized regolith will be as color diverse as Earth soil. Maybe even more! The Moon has a lot of olivine, which is the mineral that gives Mahana Bay sand a greenish hue...

All I know is this: It won't stay gray. Or at least not all of it.

I painted it golden because that is the way I saw it on a dream once.

Will the oxidized lunar regolith be poisonous for humans?

I don't think so. The main problem with lunar dust is that is very sharp-edged. Like volcanic ash or glass dust. That problem will go away as it gets weathered by water, air currents and chemicals (biological or from the imported volatiles).

Again, even on Earth there are toxic soils. Like the ones that have a high arsenic content. I think the Moon will still have many unknown dangers in the composition of the soil. Maybe some of them will be fixed with specialy engineered bacteria or some kind of great-scale mechanical process.

Thanks Gustav!
And it gets better! (Or I think so) my terraforming series (This one, Earth as seen from the Moon II, Maxwell Montes) happens in the far future and the people terraforming and colonizing space are humans, but they are from the second technological civilization of mankind.
I like to leave some thing vague, but in this future history, current human civilization colapses in the future (Less than 5,000 years from now) and after that there is a brief period of barbarism followed by a very long period of pre-technological civilizations rising and falling. It's not until the 17th millenium that industry and space travel are reinvented. And this painting is more or less 13,000 years after that.
